P E R S O N A L I T Y

______A life on the run has made Clovian a wary, untrusting dragon. Quiet and reclusive, few dragons can claim to have held a real conversation with him. Those who have will speak of a dragon similar to a Bamboo Phytocat in temperament; silent and elusive, but fierce and aggressive if provoked. Only those closest to him know of his intelligence, and of his protective fondness for his family, and he prefers to keep it this way, as the enemies of the Shade Queen's children are many.

______Clovian is Ladon's eyes and ears, and finds great security in knowing everything there is to know about the coming and goings of the Spire. His abilities, while magical in nature, are not omnipotent as many dragons of the Spire may think, though as a dragon who enjoys his space and quiet he rarely discourages this line of thinking.

ORDER OF THE FANG

______Very few faes find themselves drawn to the Spire's more violent pursuits, but for Clovian the choice was an easy one. His protective and distrustful nature meant that he was unwilling to leave Ladon's safety to a group of relative strangers while he sat by and looked pretty, and so he quickly established himself as the king's constant companion and protector. Though this initially sparked some outcry among the Spire's higher ranked dragons, Shadechaser, admiring Clovian's passion and devotion, allowed the creation of a new rank within her Order. This rank, Knight Protector of the King, was quickly bestowed to Clovian, making him an official member of the Order.

______ Though initially discouraged, his relationship with the king has put many minds at ease. A child of the Shade Queen's blood is a formidable enemy after all, and while he poses a great danger to any intruder Clovian is wrapped around Ladon's claw, docile as a young kitten under his mate's affection.

Clovian posesses the ability to sense and manipulate the energy of living things, and can use this power for both reconisance and combat.

▸ Combat:
Uncommonly aggressive for a fae, Clovian is one of the Spire's greatest fighters and outranks Ladon's legendary Honor Guard in the Order of the Fang's hierarchy.

B I O G R A P H Y

Clovian was born to a large Clan in the Southern Icefields,
but spent very little time there. Fearing what the young hatchling may be capable of, the Icewarden demanded that he be taken into the custody of one of the many warden Clans of the Fortress of Ends. he was kept sequestered there for most of his hatchling-hood, always treated as a potential threat and rarely shown any form of kindness by his handlers. While other hatchlings his age were taught to fight and fly, Clovian was kept under constant guard, and regularly reminded that he was a potential danger to himself and others. His lack of any real skills made him an easy target when the Fortress was breached by a cult worshiping his great-grandmother, the Shade Queen Naomi, and the young dragon soon found himself whisked away from one prison directly into another.

The cult brought their prize to the place where his legacy began; the Crystalspine Reef. Here Clovian was kept chained and served as the subject of numerous strange rituals, which eventually led to the early development of the powers his previous captors had always feared. Soon any cultist that drew near would drop mysteriously dead, their own life energy turned against them by their now lethal ward. Still, the rituals continued, speeding the growth of Clovain's powers until he became too strong to control. Even after managing to equip the young fae with a collar to suppress his abilities, the confidence and ferocity the young fae had gained made him a danger to any dragon who drew within striking range.

Unsure of how to handle him, the cult eventually decided to abandon Clovian as well as their mysterious project. He was sold off to a passing harpy clan whose numbers allowed them to keep the wild young fae under relative control, and sent the next two years as a sort of pet, serving as an example to the resistance that dragonkind could be defeated. Eventually Ladon's efforts at beastclan diplomacy brought him word of Clovian, and the Spire's young king left to see this neglected descendant of the Shade Queen for himself.

Appalled at the conditions Clovain was being kept in, Ladon managed to negotiate with the Flock's matriarchs to have the fae released into his care. After some coaxing, Clovian accepted the king's offer of a safe home and was taken back to the Spire to recover from years of abuse. Ladon personally oversaw his treatment, feeling drawn to the reclusive dragon, and when Clovian was well enough he began to share with him the basic skills he had been denied.

With Ladon's help Clovian learned to read and fly, and displayed an aptitude for fighting and combat uncommon to his breed. The pair grew extremely close during this time, and though many of Ladon's advisors disapproved of a relationship with a dragon so potentially dangerous as Clovian Ladon soon made their pairing public knowledge, treating Clovian with a fondness and respect reserved for no other and envied by many. Clovian is less public with his affections, but holds Ladon close to his heart and is fiercely devoted to him, serving as his personal guard.
