Once a petty kitsune only concerned with his own image, ego, and desires, Zenji was quite obsessed with power and delighted in exerting it over others until finally he was taken down by wiser, older Tenko kitsune. Arrogant and willful his fragile ego shattered upon his defeat and he skulked away to the outer edges of Glenreal with his tail(s) between his legs. It is there Zenji remained brooding for a time, angry and bitter. It took many long, hard years for Zenji to begin his road down redemption, or as he sees it, enlightenment. He has since come to a better understanding of himself and is quite content with the inner peace and balance he's achieved. Through his redemption Zenji became far more powerful than he ever had before through sheer force and brute strength, reaching a grand total of eight tails far quicker than any of his previous tails as a malicious kitsune. However, strictly following his vow of peace at all cost, Zenji refuses to access his vast powers and would rather risk injury than risk losing himself to greed and power once more. As a redeemed kitsune and knowing the stigmas surrounding those of his kind, Zenji keeps a respectful distance from his ilk to keep the peace and comfort of all concerned. Rather than feel any shame over his redeemed status, Zenji is instead quite proud of the tumultuous path his life has taken and takes comfort in the fact that the pain he both caused and suffered paved the way to a greater understanding of peace and balance. Zenji is exceedingly friendly to whomever does approach him of their own volition, from Tenko to Malicious he welcomes all, confident in his ability to defuse any tensions from even the surliest of kitsune. Zenji is quite simple and modest with very little to his name and he enjoys staying very near to the Great Temple, occasionally spending brief periods meditating within it's sacred walls. One of the more prominent and constant friendships in his life is that which he shares with his brother, Shinobu. Sharing similar, violent backgrounds, Zenji feels quite close to his brother, however, unlike Zenji, Shinobu struggles much more with his own dark past. Zenji often feels quite helpless in the face of his brother's burdens as these are things which Shinobu must bear alone, but regardless he offers comfort where he can and thus the two can usually be seen together quietly chatting and sharing stories. There is no greater test to Zenji's vow of peace than when his brother leaves to risk life and limb fighting the great monstrosities that lurk beyond the safety of Glenreal, this is usually when Zenji chooses to visit The Great Temple as he awaits Shinobu's return and constantly reminds himself just how powerful his subdued brother truley is. |

Additional Notes: Zenji's beads each have very dull surfaces with small cracks and fissures through which a bright blue light can be seen gleaming from within. They orbit his neck in slow, methodic circles, some find it almost hypnotizing. Zenji's wisps move in a similar fashion, slow and uniform, but they often travel in intricate paths and patterns around Zenji which reflects his mood, though only he and those close to him can decipher the wisps movements and their meanings.
