One does not escape death, this is a common fact. It creeps up on you and claims you in your final moments, whether you know that your fate has come or you are taken unaware. But no one expects death to have a form, to exist, to be a person, a beast, to be intelligent.

The same forces of fate that birthed the gods formed DeathーThose who existed before creation. There was nothing, and then there was something. From the essence of the Shade a creature without form was shaped, a soul stolen from the darkness and pushed into the light, removing the unnecessary in order to become. Their nonexistence causes very little to see them, but their omnipotence makes them unescapable all in the same.
