Lore:

Long long ago, a large body of a crystalline substance drifted through space. At some pivotal point in its slow journey through space, a passing meteor collided with it, shattering it into billions of tiny shards. Those shards then scattered themselves across the cosmos, flying through nebulas and picking up stardust along the way. Some of them eventually came to crash down upon our planet, and began to absorb some of the abundant magical energies. The crystals morphed into eggs, then fractured to reveal dragonic beings that resembled their stardust streaked and crystalline origins. These creatures became known as the Crystal Star Coatls.

Due to the high levels of arcane energy and elevated height, many of the fragments were drawn to the Focal Point. The types of energies absorbed by the crystal shard affect the color of the dragon hatched, so many of these fragments developed into dragons with pink plumage. The closer a Crystal Star Coatl's originating fragment landed to the observatory, the more shades of pink it possesses and the more vibrant they appear. Shards that escaped the pull of the focal point and landed elsewhere possess pigmentation based upon the energies present where they landed, and can come in a variety of hues. Just as a regular coatl's feathers fade when it is unwell, a Crystal Star Coatl's plumage can dim if they are kept away from sources of magic, especially if they are deprived of the form of magic that facilitated their formation.

Variants:

Arcane Crystal Star Coatls are the most frequently occurring monochromatic coloration of Crystal Stars. This is because the fragments that Crystal Stars emerge from absorb magical energies, which then affect their coloring. Although the shards could potentially land anywhere and absorb any form of magic, the Focal Point's high altitude and levels of Arcane magics drew in a large number of the shards. Arcane Crystal Star Coatls have all pink range colors, and although arcane eyes are not a requirement, they are preferred for lore reasons.

Chroma Crystal Star Coatls are multicolored and can appear in any combination of colors, dependent upon where their fragment landed. A Shard that landed in the middle of a flight's territory will produce a Coatl with plumage resembling that flight's element, whereas a shard that landed between elemental flights could have a mix of colorings. Lore-wise, matching eyes make the most sense, but they are not required.
