widowmaker lair guard —– widowmaker is a fierce, untamable spirit. brought into delos after her parents abandoned her and her siblings to serve the deities, she wasn't even left under the care of another dragon. she was left to fend for herself on the outskirts of water flight territory until she was found and taken in by an old diplomat. widowmaker rejected the care she received from her elders. she never outright attacked anyone trying to care for her, but she did lash out, threatening those who got to close to her with a fearsome hiss. fallen was not ready to give up on her. fallen could see the fear in her eyes. she wanted to help her, but she wasn't sure how. fallen consulted with her. she knew widowmaker wouldn't find comfort right away, so she made an offer to the estranged dragon: she may live as she liked at delos, but she may also wander freely–nomadic. she could return to delos whenever she pleased and would be welcome back openly. fallen left without another word, and for the first time, widowmaker felt and air of comfort in the lair. she waited until fallen was long gone from her sights until she left the den she was in to step out into the night sky, taking flight immediately in reckless abandon. she cried out endlessly in ecstasy as she circled the moon's outline and plummeted through ravines. she perched herself on the tallest mountain she could find and took some time to collect her thoughts under the tranquil moonlight. widowmaker had never experienced a sense of peace such as this before. fallen seemed so completely different from her, yet she seemed to understand her experiences and her strife. perhaps delos was the home she was seeking out all that time fending for herself. she spent the next few nights thinking it over, whether to call delos her home or to live perpetually off the land, calling nowhere but the abandoned shelters she discovered at night home. it was hard for her to trust older dragons after her parents had just left her with no word whatsoever, without even leaving her in the care of another dragon or lair. however, she realized this was a part of coming to terms with her past and to move on from her resentment. she didn't want to be a complete savage. since electing to permanently live out her life as delos, she has made considerable progress. while her circle is small, she has a mate and a best friend: narcissus. her work as a lair guard at delos allows her to both be professional yet ready on the offense at the same time. she is a fierce fighter, yet she can sometimes get head over heels in her battles. regardless, she can instill fear in any deceitful visitor to delos. —– |
