Twinsies, allowing for horribly-broken-timeline nonsense.

It has been said that History finds a way. Once a timeline is established it is hard for even the most determined of time travellers to create any alteration. Change things little enough and perhaps history will allow it; the main timeline blurs a little for a generation or two, memories become duplicitous regarding the altered events but nothing really changes. Change things too much and the new reality is rejected, retaining the true history while the new events split from the true reality as an alternative branch, unstable and exposed and certain to fizzle out or collapse into the Real timeline as soon as possible. History finds a way to keep time tidy.

Cazta might be described as an orphan of one of these branches. She would have vanished with her branch, collapsed into nothing more than a few extra memories for her main timeline counterpart, if it weren't for said counterpart's death as an echoing, unnatural result of the branch-forming time-travel. A void was created, and as her timeline burned through its last seconds, folding into the main timeline wherever it could and fading elsewhere, Cazta was pulled through decades and an impossibly thin but normally impenetrable barrier between worlds to a reality not quite like her own.

History's books have been balanced, then. And that might have been the beginning, convoluted middles and end of it, but no self respecting time-traveller will try only once. And so Cazta's twin, dead in the branch she lived and in the main timeline, is similarly a lone survivor of a collapsed branch, replacing the twin of her main timeline counterpart. It's not perfect. Poleil isn't her lost sister, any more than she's his lost brother. But Cazta at least agrees with History, that considering the route taken to get to Here, Here will suffice.

Cazta is a big fan of Now, as well. The future is a great big terrifying unknown and the past is something that separates her from the rest of her new reality, but everyone Here is Now and there's lots of exciting things on this Sornieth. Like many others she has joined the Cirque as a way to explore without excessive commitment or danger.
