As a hatchling, Taernel is an inquisitive little one, venturing as far as he is allowed with the desire to explore. In his first few hours he had poked his nose into almost every corner of the lair, curiosity overwhelming any survival instinct a young dragon might have. He has an expression he uses to get food out of any adult dragon; making himself as adorable as possible, he is almost always successful in this, and has pinpointed every dragon who is most likely to fall for it. However, despite his mischievousness, he is quite an innocent dragon, and not a trickster like Pan, Cherry or ForestGyre. He shows a fascination for the light reflecting off his bright scales, often chasing where it falls.


As an adult, Taernel has shown himself to be quite intuitive and aware of his surroundings; he is able to pick up the signs of a threat about a mile away in the dark. He is sensitive and aware of other dragon's emotions, and able to read even the Fae's monotonous tone; as such, he is often used as an unofficial translator during arguments among the clan. He travels silently through the forest, which would make him an adept scout, although he prefers to be a part of the fighting when it comes; he defends his clan members well, and is skilled at assessing the battlefield before any kind of conflict - making him a good rival to the inherent tactics of the Fae.
