Evenlynn

Evenlynn stared at the hatchling intently as it chirped and burbled happily. Something felt wrong but she couldn’t quite pinpoint what… Until recently, hatchlings had only made her feel mildly uncomfortable: she found them too wriggly and constantly underfoot. However, lately whenever she gazed at one, she felt a pinprick of recollection and, surprisingly, sorrow. The feeling wouldn’t last long and when she attempted grasp it, the memory would slip between her claws and become lost to her. Her poor memory was not limited to hatchlings, in fact to Evenlynn’s horror, she could not remember where she was or what she was doing during vast periods of time—sometimes she couldn’t remember an entire week. With increasing worry, Evenlynn turned to her clanmates for answers but even they were unsure of where she disappeared to during these periods.

Evenlynn became obsessed with seeking her forgotten memories but the only clue she had was that reminiscent feeling that she occasionally felt around hatchlings. Perhaps she would be able to unravel her mysterious missing time if she had a clutch of her own. She decided to leave her lair quietly, without telling anyone, and search out an appropriate mate. Little did she know that this wasn’t the first time…
