Astra means "star", ultimately from Greek αστηρ (aster).

Astra was certainly strange. She came from an acquainted clan and was so plain that the term 'plain Jane' would have fit her.

However, a moonless night changed her fate. She became imbuded with the magic of the night. Silvery runes appeared on her skin, reflecting the mystifying power of the hidden moon. Her body turned into varying shades of purple, which was a reflection of the shadows of the night. Dark waves of blue appeared on her wings, just like the tides and the moonless sky. No one knew why the night chose her.

Astra undertook the role of showing others that beauty. The power of the moon allowed her to produce tiny flecks of light, which chased away fears and revealed the enchanting quality of nights. She used her powers to eased Revenant's fears of the Shade, and decided to travel to spread her enlightenment. She collected stories along the way for her friend Revenant, for he was too sick and weak to travel out of the Scarred Wasteland by himself.

Astra swore to Revenant that she'll look for a way to lift his curse, but at the same time she had a lot of doubts. Lifting the curse would mean that he'll be able to end his life, which was what Astra didn't want. She wanted him to stay.

That sliver of fear kept her from thoroughly researching on Revenant's curse, and she diverted her attention towards gathering herbs during her travels to ease Revenant's sickness.

Astra hoped that goodbye would be far, far away.
