Flameburst

Part 1

Opposite to the nursery, close to the surface.. So around here, right? The smell of herbs hits your nose immediately. Definitely around here. It's the furthest back, the elder's den close by. You enter and search for a little while before seeing a coatl far back, fiery in colour, organizing herbs and muttering to herself.
"Is there anything you need?" Her voice is serene. You explain as briefly as you can that Kitty sent you, and that he needs painkillers for Danfy, and that you're looking for Flameburst. You suspect by her blazing feathers that you're already speaking to such a dragon, but it's better to be safe than sorry.

"That would be me." She smiles behind her veil, but it's strained. "Thank you for coming, I'll get started right away." Flameburst is quite professional and looks right at home, taking herbs off of the stone shelves and mashing them into a paste with a sharp stone. She catches you off guard when she begins to speak quietly.
"Danfy has.." She pauses for a moment. "Osteochondrodysplasia. It's a long word, I had to take a moment to remember, sorry!" The vibrant dragoness laughs softly. She takes a few thyme leaves and begins crushing them.
"Kitty told me all about it, he's very educated on the matter. Scottish fold cats were bred from a genetic disorder which made their ears fold. He said, 'Some cat loving dragons adore Scottish folds because they're so even tempered, but they don't realize the reason they're like that is because they're always in pain.'" Her tail, previously risen, droops, and she becomes even quieter, causing you to strain to hear her.

"It's a developmental disorder, you see. It distorts their limbs and often they can't walk properly, or if it's so bad they can't walk at all. Thankfully it's not that bad for Danfy." She grabs another set of leaves and begins wrapping up the crushed herbs into a bundle.
"Kitty is constantly fretting over her. I bet if her pain ever stopped, she'd act like any other cat. Running around the camp, playing, bothering dragons for food or hunting her own.." She stops suddenly, and closes her eyes. "I don't know what that drake will do when the time comes for her to join the stars. He loves her so much." Flameburst pads over and sets the herb bundle at your feet. She dips her head solemnly.

"I hope this helps. If you need anything else feel free to return." You pick up the bundle of herbs carefully between your teeth, and raise your tail and curl it as best you can in place of a vocal 'thank you'. You're starting to get the hang of the body language they use here, you think, because Flameburst grins a little. Actually, she looks slightly amused as well. Maybe not quite.

You head out of the medicine den and put on a fast pace, careful not to damage the package of herbs you're carrying.
