Ansem

Ansem is cold, calculating, and utterly ruthless. He treats other dragons as tools to be manipulated and disposed of, nothing more than cattle for himself. He reveres power and knowledge above all things, and despises ignorance. He has a very brilliant mind which he can use to aid him in his never-ending quest to take over the world with tiny shadow beasts he creates himself using an unholy mixture of plague and arcane magic. He calls these beasts Heartless, and has trained them to remove hearts of other dragons. He then collects the hearts of other dragons, making himself stronger with each heart he consumes.

However, Ansem's progress in collecting hearts and making himself stronger than every other dragon was halted when he came to Draconequis clan. He arrived with a legion of his Heartless, to destroy the entire clan and steal their hearts to serve his own purposes. However, his creatures were destroyed and he was easily subdued by a young sleek skydancer named Raegami. She came upon him from nowhere and nearly ripped his wing clean off with her claws. Despite the fact he was powered up by six dragon hearts, she easily overtook him and took him to Tempest.

Using his cunning, Ansem attempted to lie to Tempest, claiming the shadows were beasts he had no control over, and that they were chasing him. Tempest saw through his lies and called him on them, forcing him to tell her the truth about the Heartless being his creation.. However he neglected to mention his collection of dragon hearts. He was allowed a temporary pass in Draconequis clan, a respite overnight before he would have to move on. While he rested in the clan, Ansem noted the dragons here were unlike any he had ever seen. Their hearts, bodies, and minds were stronger than those whose hearts he had stolen before. This was why he had experienced trouble when running into them. Ansem decided then and there he needed a way to stay in the clan. Any sort of excuse would do.. the only thing he could think of was becoming soulbound. It didn't matter what kind of creatures he created. If Ansem could somehow become soulbound before the night was over, he doubted the clan leader would send him away. So he spoke to every female dragon he could. Most of them ignored him or were already soulbound. And finally he came upon Raegami.. the same dragon who had found him and subdued him. And something clicked inside of him. He would have her.. she could be an asset. With her skills on the battlefield, she could be his greatest triumph. He muttered an incantation under his breath, sprinkling it with arcane and plague magic. And he created an artificial soulbinding between them, linking their hearts, minds, and bodies, just as in a real soulbinding. However, this soulbinding allowed him full control over his emotions. She would love him, and he could be free to do as he pleased. However, the process of soulbinding through magic did not go as well as he had hoped.

Raegami felt the affects, but instead of worshiping the ground he walked on, she started berating him and calling him names. Instead of obeying Ansem's every command, she instead chose to follow her own heart, which was free from his influence. Because even though he had stolen her soul, Ansem had failed to steal her mind, body, and heart. However, even a failed soulbinding was good enough for Ansem. Just as he had assumed Tempest grudgingly allowed his presence in the clan due to this bond.

Ansem was giddy about his new addition to the Draconequis clan. These dragons with their bodies and hearts tougher than steel.. they would be his stepping stone to greatness... but he needed to have them drop their guard so he could steal their hearts easier. So he begun to care for clutches of eggs when Raegami dissapeared, pretending to be interested in the children who hatched when he could really care less. He actually hates the dragons hatching from the clutches and will often tell them lies instead of the truth. He often uses these lies to lead hatchlings into dangerous situations, where he will steal their hearts and summon an exalt circle so his child will be taken away before it is their time. He is the main reason some dragons in Draconequis clan are exalted nameless, and as hatchlings. He even holds the ability to skew the exalt circles enough to allow other flight gods and goddesses to claim baby dragons after he has stolen their hearts.

To Ansem's displeasure, hatchling hearts have much less power in them than adult hearts, so it will take him longer to become stronger. Also, to top it off, none of the children seem to be born with mystical powers, and the ones who are are usually able to resist his heart-stealing technique, even as newborns. Ansem is also irritated by the fact that despite the growing number of hearts he has hatchlings, he is unable to match Tempest, no matter how hard he tries. Each time he collects a single heart, Tempest seems to double in strength.

Due to his sneaky and cruel nature, he has forced a Janustrap to bond with him. he uses both of this creature's stalks to keep track of where dragons have been. This way he can track others without even trying.

Ansem managed to steer three young warrior nocturnes down a dark path. he is controlling Terra and Ventus as his personal puppet and managed to banish Aqua to another realm all on her own.
