Not even with other Ancient breeds - a Gaoler cannot breed with a Veilspun anymore than it can with a Mirror. However, this means that each Ancient breed can have unique genes, some of which "break" the silhouette and lineart without worrying about apparel problems, and they can still wear skins to complement these traits! If this sounds complicated, don't worry; the genes function just like any other in breeding, and it's even simpler when you don't have to wonder which breed is more 'dominant.' Currently, the only Ancient breeds are Gaoler, Banescale, Veilspun, and Aberration dragons. All other dragons are classified as a "modern" breed, which are all freely compatible with one another. Each dragon links to their respective breed's Encyclopedia page.] For easy identification, all Ancient dragons & gene scrolls are marked by the triangular, stone-like Ancient symbol shown below, and thankfully, each breed's unique gene scrolls are much cheaper than their modern counterparts. Be certain to read the full item name before buying the scroll you want, if you don't want to buy the wrong breed's scroll by mistake! [emoji=ancient] With a breed change scroll, any dragon can be converted into an Ancient breed at any time, but keep in mind this will reset all genes to Basic. The same goes for Ancient dragons being changed to any other breed. Modern breeds can safely be changed to another modern breed without resetting any genes.
