Who dares to look into the heart of the endangered? There is no point, for you will only find calamity, destruction… and hate.
“They told me to run. I didn’t look back… but now I’ve stopped running.”
The clearest thing I remember from all those years ago is the screaming. It was horrible. If I close my eyes, I can hear it again. The sound scores through my mind again and again until I’ve got a headache, and still it doesn’t stop. I try to push those thoughts to the back of my mind. Usually, it works, but sometimes it doesn’t. I know it’s at those few moments that I’m at my weakest point. I can’t let it control me.
As a hatchling I was raised in a fairly sized Clan that resided in the Crystalspine Reaches- the outskirts of Arcane territory. I don’t remember a mom or dad, and I don’t remember siblings. I know I have family, because I’m here, but I don’t know where or who they are and it tears me up inside; not like I’m going to let anyone know that, though. I didn’t have much of a childhood, thanks to the Shadow and Plague flights. This is where the screaming comes in.
I remember someone yelling, “Run! Get out of here!” to me as what seemed like a meteor shower started falling from the sky. Dragons of every breed screeched their throats out as they rose to defend our home, their wings combating the air itself. I looked up and saw those eyes, the ones of our attackers, glowing both blood red and a purple that resembled the void. I was frozen at first- until someone suddenly shielded me from an oncoming attack, and then fell to the ground beside me. I finally regained my senses and started sprinting away, as fast as my little hatchling legs could possibly take me. I knew at that point that I would never forgive these dragons.
I ran inland, eventually reaching the Starwood Strand, the cries and agony of battle just a whisper on the wind at my back. I’ve been here ever since, building my own Clan, vowing to protect all those who lived under me. I’ve even painted myself several times, in many different colors, to prove that I can change in the blink of an eye; I’ve become a worthy enemy, a fierce opponent- a dragon you don’t want to mess with. You will never be able to predict my next move- I run with Arcane magic at my heels and fly with the bursting of the stars against my wings.
Visitors to my Clan may notice that I’m nervous and a bit skittish at first, but as you get to know me, you’ll find that I’m a brave leader whose only wish is to preserve the harmony of their dragons. Even though I don’t hate the Plague or Shadow flights, I will never let anything like their vicious, unwarranted attack on my birth Clan happen again. I have learned many things throughout my years of training- both myself and others- and studying the practices of my ancestors. I can assure you that once you interfere with us, you won’t be back to do it again.
