A note from Mother
From the very moment that you blinked in your first view of moonlight, I knew that the world above would speak to you in a special way. I've watched you spend hours gazing up into the stars, captivated by how they glimmer. I see your fascination with their irregular form, the twinkling lights that almost seem to communicate with you in some language that we do not understand. I wonder what they say to you, and I wonder if you are receptive enough to interpret their meanings. Maybe you aren't now, you are so young, but one day you and the stars will form a special bond. They will speak, and you will listen. It will be a great responsibility and burden, but you are of my pure blood and you will bear the gift on your shoulders with grace and with pride. Never forget that.

I... remember this. This note from Mother. I had not the time to read it, for by the time I reached up to retrieve it from where it nestled between my antlers, I was already grown and had long said my farewells to the clan who raised me. And now, clutching this note in my claws, I long to answer her. Though we are separated; I now call the Tangled Wood my home, and she lingers still in the Viridian Labyrinth, where the only resemblance I carry of it, my birthland, is the green of my eyes, strangely differing to those of Mother's. Perhaps we will never speak to or see each other again. But it does not matter. My love for the stars has not, and never will falter. Mother knows this, and always will. Each star glows with a different light, but in my inability to read their stories yet, I am always left yearning. I am still young, but I will grow, and as I do, I will learn. And I will never forget, Mother.
