Ariadne

Although the hardy Wildclaw's egg was laid in the Shifting Expanse, she hatched in the far northern peaks encircling the Pillar of the World and raised as a true child of the Earthshaker. In her frigid, thin-aired home she learned to endure and get by on her own when she needed to. But she longed to see more of Dragonhome, and alone she descended, making her way down to the roots of the mountains. Ariadne roamed the basin of the Pillar until she reached the Greatwyrm's Breach, then slowly wandered the brink of the mighty chasm for months on end. Her journey was ended by a fierce storm, when she came upon the Diabase Demesne and took shelter among its dragons.

Her present duties involve seeking out new sites that the clan can mine for useful and valuable metals and minerals. Most of the time she tries to stick to places within the clan's formal territory, but she also wanders into unclaimed lands in her search, and occasionally onto claimed lands, if she
thinks that Pele's diplomats have acquired mining rights.

Ariadne holds to a number of curious convictions, which thrive in the towering crags closest to the dwelling place of the Earth's great patron. She is about as devout a follower of the Earthshaker as Pele herself, and is firm in her belief in myriad bizarre beings and happenings which are unusual and unlikely even for a world such as Sornieth- elemental embodiments lesser than and distinct from the Eleven; mountains that are actually sleeping, ponderous giants; inexplicable cyclones that descend from clear skies upon those who fail to wear the proper wards while at the tops of certain mountains; and beings of chaos who alternatively lead Earth dragons to rich veins and steal their right socks.
