    Desdemona is the last living descendant of the clan's progenitor, her namesake. Yamarashi, the blood-witch and the only dragon left in the clan to have known her ancestor in the flesh, will not allow Desdemona to breed until she finds a mate worthy of continuing the bloodline - a right that they can only earn by killing her.

    Until then, a poison - curse is placed upon Desdemona. So long as Yamarashi lives, any attempt to breed Desdemona will prove fatal for both the mate and the hatchlings, whose hearts and lungs will dissolve the moment the first egg cracks.

    Desdemona has yet to find a way to lift the curse without killing Yamarashi, but she intends to try and draw Tangaroa away from her influence and seek his assistance.
