When she was just a hatchling, Meira was kidnapped by a group of Imperial hatchling snatchers. They brought her to a terrible place with a lot of other Sky Dancer hatchlings. There were so many other hatchlings that Meira couldn't move her wings. They were kept in the darkness of a cave under constant guard. Meira watched in terror as the more mature Sky Dancers were taken from the cave. They didn't return.
Shortly after she grew into an adolescent, it was Meira's turn. She didn't know what was going to happen to her but she sensed that it was bad. The place she was led to smelled like blood and there was a red stain on the floor. Two Mirrors held Meira down while a Guardian loomed over her. The Mirrors left deep cuts on Meira's sky blue crystaline body that would later turn into scars. Meira was full of terror and then she was full of pain as the Guardian ripped first one then the other wing from body. It was agony! Before they could finish the job, there was an earth-shattering roar. A ginormous Imperial dragon stood in the entryway. Meira thought for sure that she was done, that they were going to eat her right then. But the Imperial didn't attack her. He attacked the other dragons! Both Mirrors were killed. The Guardian put up a fight but she too ultimately fell dead at the Imperial's feet. It was all terribly bloody and so fast that Meira thought she perhaps missed something. The Imperial turned to her. His red gaze softened. He carefully scooped Meira up in his huge jaws. She thought that he was going to gobble her down but all he did was carry her out of the cave and into the first sunlight she had seen in a long time. Her eyes hurt from the brightness almost as much as her tattered wing stumps hurt. The Imperial brought her to a Healer but they weren't able to regrow Meira's wings. Meira was distraught at never being able to fly - not even once! - and wanted to just give up. The Imperial - he introduced himself as Remus - encouraged Meira to keep living. He never left her side during the long and painful healing process. Remus was gentle and loving towards her. He was firm when he needed to be but he never hurt Meira. Through Remus, Meira was able to experience her first flight, by riding between Remus' wings. It was the flight of her life. Meira will always be grateful to Remus for saving her and giving her a reason to live after her mutilation. They are currently mates.
