Vorpal is a rather angry young spiral. He was kicked out of his home for being a bit too wild and carefree. A Clan of Gladekeeper Devouts found him and told him he was "marked", and took him in with several others. Over the course of a few weeks, he realized what his "Mark" was, and it thrilled him to no end. An Elite fighter, destined to be part of the Gladkeeper's elite forces!

During his initial training, he was introduced to Wartorn and Warborn. They spoke of the Legacy, and how important it was to be prepared. When Maeve came to ready them for their first forays into the Shrieking Wilds, he didn't take the guardian seriously - until she suggested they were all cowards. That stung. He instantly flew after her, intent on showing her just how much of a coward he was. Unknown to him, she was faster - having had a spiral for a sister, she knew all of their tricks.

He was bodily flung to the ground with a single powerful swipe and bruised his ego more than his body. He was paired with two others, a pearlcatcher and a guardian, to go out on a hunting and gathering trip. During said trip, they were attacked, and Vorpal put all his effort into his assaults. Again and again, he took out enemy after enemy, until he was finally knocked from the sky. Two enemies ganged up on him and it was all the other two could do to save themselves.

The Guardian managed to pick him and carry him away from the field of battle far enough so that Maeve and the Overseer Drakenvulf managed to get him. Then the guardian collapsed.

Though he was slated for the exaltation ceremony, Drakenvulf took him aside and whispered that another Clan would need his services and that of his bloodline. So he was ushered out and away to find a new home.
