"FISH"

Fisherman - The One Who Dives Deep

JOB DESCRIPTION

Xiiva is the fisherman of this clan, dedicated to the capture, cleaning, and preparation of fish to serve to the pescatarians of the clan. Although some dragons prefer to eat their fish whole, those with more sensitive palates can only manage the soft meat and no bones. Xiiva has generously taken on the responsibility of tailoring each catch to the individual needs of every dragon within the clan, since there are not too many fish-eaters to serve.

PERSONALITY

He used to be very reckless but now he is very talented and responsible. He is passionate with his work and loves to interact with other dragons. He is a clueless romance, he wants to find a loving relationship but wouldn't know love even if it hit him in the face, knowing this every dragon that comes up to him and confesses gets rejected, unbenounced to Xivva. This leads to dragons admiring him from afar instead of confessing.

PHYSIQUE

Although average in size and form, this drake has powerful limbs, core muscles, and jaws due to his many years of fishing experience. His smile is bright enough to make any dragon feel a little extra warmth in their heart.

BIOGRAPHY

There was a storm the morning that he was born. The tides of his birth place caused waves to batter against the shore, and upset the flora and fauna inhabiting the Fishspine Reef. His mother Ebb wrapped herself around her nest watching as cracks appeared on the shells of the three eggs. She prayed it was because they were hatching, and not due to the elements. It was her first clutch born in the Sea of a Thousand Currents. She had always loved water but at that moment she was well aware of it’s massive power as a force that could harm her young. He was the last to emerge, thrusting himself out into the dark and turning water opening his eyes. Registering first, a piece of coral being ripped from it’s roots and then the brightness of the gems on his mother’s scales which flashed with every burst of lightning. She pulled him to her, shielding him under her wings with his sisters. She hummed, the pitch low and the tune one she made up on the spot, trying to soothe her three new children until the sea finally found its own peace.

Xiiva was the bravest of his siblings. He tested the limits of how far he could get away from the nest without one of his parents pulling him back mere days after he got the hang of his wings. He was the first to investigate strange creatures, enter ominous dark caves full of sharp stalactites and stalagmites, and pick fights with other hatchlings if he felt that they weren’t being nice to his sisters. His curiosity grew as he did. He asked his mother constantly about her time in the Starfell Isles, and begged her to recount what he deemed the most exciting moments of her island hopping to the Shrieking Wilds of the Viridian Labyrinth. His favorite part of the story was when she decided it was finally time for her to see The Sea of a Thousand Currents. Having always been drawn to water, she felt a strong need to experience what life would be like in the greatest body of water in her world.

Ebb’s eyes would always light up when she described what it was like to gaze upon the great sea for the first time, and the spark in her eye lit up a fire in Xiiva’s imagination. He was sometimes able to get other Hatchlings to play “Adventurers” with him, a game where they pretended to travel all over Sorienth drinking in the beautiful sights, fighting battles, and completing quests.

When Ebb and Ahti deemed him old enough, Xiiva was able to go out fishing with his mother. When he was still quite young, he would sometimes pretend to go to sleep, but stay awake to watch Ebb sink beneath the surface of the midnight water and return with glowing slugs and crustaceans. He had pleaded for a long time before the evening actually came when he received his first fishing and deep diving lesson. The adrenaline rush of hurtling down into the sea depths, and chasing fish was intoxicating for him. He challenged his mother to diving competitions, occasionally causing her some anxiety with just how far down he would go and how long he would stay there. However, she also felt a strong sense of pride in her progeny. Xiiva was the first of her children to take after her so strongly.

Xiiva found himself in adulthood becoming more like his mother before she settled to live in The Sea of a Thousand Currents. There was a restlessness in his blood that he tried to calm, but he never quite succeeded in doing it. His mother could see it in the look in his eyes as he gazed out towards the rest of Sorienth. Far beyond the shores that she had grown to love. She remembered the lust for new experiences that once stirred in her bones, and so one day she pulled Xiiva aside and told him that no matter where he went or what he did he would always be her son and she would be there for him.

Xiiva knew that he didn’t really need his mother’s permission to leave, but what she told him made him feel so much better about going. So, he departed to see what the wide world had in store for him. He went to The Windswept Plateau first paying a visit to The Flickering Tempest Coterie, a sister clan to his. He discovered that flying while being propelled by strong gusts of wind was almost as exhilarating as deep sea diving. He also enjoyed expanding his circle of friends. He then travelled to the Starfall Isles, to see the where his mother was born. He tried to find all the places that she had mentioned in her stories, especially the best spots to fish amongst the Crystalspines.

Then, Xiiva came to The Scarred Wasteland. A place that he knew very little about. He found himself enthralled by the deadly looking terrain, the vicious animals, and the dragons that lived there. He had never known such chaotic wildness. The Sea of a Thousand Currents could be unpredictable, but there had always been a sense of control lurking beneath its surface. As if things were destined to happen, like the storm the night he was born. Nothing in The Scarred Wasteland seemed to run on any type of logic. That was, until he met some of the dragons in this clan. It was quite the happy coincidence that a small party of them had been trying to fish along the border between The Scarred Wasteland and the Sea of A Thousand Currents. They were trying, and failing to procure anything of real nutritional value. This was due to the fact they were not going to far beneath the surface of the plague tainted water for their prey. Xiiva noticed their plight and took pity on them plummeting far past where any of the other dragons thought possible to bring up some of the most delicious looking seafood they had seen in weeks. He was invited to return with them to their clan, where he found himself surrounded by fascinating companions. He was asked to stay and teach the other seafood eating dragons how to fish like he did. Unfortunately, none of his pupils were able to surpass their teacher. By the time this was realized however, Xiiva had realized that he really liked feeling useful and needed. He also had started to become attached to the members of the clan. Therefore, when [clan leader] asked if he would like to stay and become the official fisherman of the clan he accepted wholeheartedly. Xiiva now serves as the sole source of seafood for the clan, but some of his fish-eating friends accompany him to the shore every once in a while to practice their own skills. (He also visits his parents and siblings a few times a year)
