Cantabile

His kind had always warn about the dangers of Malicious Yako, but he had seen no faults in befriending Keiro. They had grown up together, after all, though their personalities were almost polar opposites. Cantabile was calm and steady, like a bubbling brook, and Keiro was brash and impulsive, like an active volcano. Their voices were different as well; his own songlike and gentle, while his friend's raw and passionate. He quite liked their conflicting temperaments.

Years after their first meeting, he found himself caught in the middle of an argument. He noticed that his friend had changed, becoming more violent and more ambitious. He hoped he could at least calm him down, but Keiro turned on him and bared his teeth. Cantabile snapped his mouth shut, speechless. This new Keiro was different. This new Keiro was dangerous. For the first time in his life, Cantabile felt himself narrow his eyes and unsheathe his claws.

Hours later, he lay shuddering on the bloody forest floor, sides heaving with exhaustion. He couldn't speak; his throat bubbled with torn tissue and spittle. He knew at least one of his wings were bent, and he could barely feel his 9 tails twitching pathetically behind him. Above all, however, his chest ached with an excruciating pain, making his injuries seem dull in comparison. Cantabile couldn't tell if the agony was physical or emotional, but he could see (hazily, he thought) something lying broken beneath him. He choked. That was a crystal, his crystal, shattered and destroyed and lifeless. Panic swamped his mind, and shadows began creeping at the edges of his vision. No! Cantabile struggled, drunk with delusion and misery. I don't want to die! Through his half-unconscious state, he could feel someone approach him and stop, inches away from his battered body. He briefly stoped struggling.

Since a kitsune cannot survive without a broken crystal, Cantabile sacrificed one of his tails in order to recreate the crystal shattered in the fight. He does not bring up what exactly happened during the exchange, but the experience was traumatic enough for him to completely shut out everyone and everything for a good amount of time (it took a very long time for him to forgive Keiro and still holds trust issues to a certain degree). He is still very passive though, preferring to keep the peace and only resorting to violence if absolutely necessary. Cantabile is very soft spoken and his voice is quite soothing; like most Night Shiro, you may find him singing to the moon on a bright, starry night.

Cantabile currently has 8 tails and dark, glossy fur, to the point that it may look almost metallic from a distance. Clumps of gem-like structures decorate his arms, legs, wings, and face. His scars from his battle with Keiro are hard to cover up with simple silks or jewelry, as they include a jagged white tear across his throat and an ugly rip across one of his wing joints. His crystals carefully float above his fur and glow a soft cyan.
