Kojin

Kojin shifted, adjusting his balance as the winds whipped through the Reedcliff Ascents. His claws tightened around the edge of the cliff as he peered over the edge. He’d heard rumors, whispers, of an emperor. A golden emperor that wandered between Wind and Plague. And he was determined to see it.
Suddenly, a mirror dragon rushed around his legs, bright red eyes flashing at him before she disappeared over the edge of the cliff. Kojin followed her path as she spiraled down the cliffs, eyes wide. A thud at his side, however, drew him away.
“She’s scouting for the emperor,” a guardian said, orange eyes flashing. They shook out their wings slightly. “I assume you’re looking for them too?”
“Yes,” Kojin said, slightly attempting to retain his diminishing dignity. “I traveled here from the Southern Ice Fields, and ran across several dragons from Arcane who had heard the same stories as myself. As my clan was reorganizing itself, I offered to leave to seek the emperor out.”
“You’re looking to do this as more than just a thrill-seeking hobby?” a new voice said, startling Kojin. He looked down to see a wildclaw, or… or what was once a wildclaw. Black ichor dripped from his eyes, and his rib cage seemed to be completely exposed. The wildclaw licked his lips. “Don’t mind it,” he hissed. “It’s an old curse.”
Kojin nodded, slowly. “You’re all one group?” he asked, carefully. The guardian and the wildclaw nodded.
“All of us are tracking this emperor. For multiple reasons,” the guardian said. “Roundabout for the thrill, myself for the mystery, and Swan for science.” The wildclaw, apparently Swan, nodded. Suddenly, there was a blur of brown, and the mirror dragon was back.
“Roundabout, you see them?” Swan asked.
Roundabout, the mirror, nodded excitedly. “Come on, yeah, the emperor’s about to tear through some of the more inhabited areas unless we can draw it away.” And saying that, she dove off the cliff again. Swan sighed, and followed swiftly after her.
“I’m following those two,” the guardian said, readying their wings to take off.
“Wait!” Kojin said, flaring his own wings. “I didn’t catch your name?”
“ExPulverum,” the guardian said. “Follow me if you want. I don’t care either way.” And saying that, they took off. Kojin watched their rapidly disappearing form, before leaping off of the cliff and soaring down after them.
He had the feeling this was about to turn into a much bigger adventure than he’d anticipated.
