SUNTOUCHED
Concept and Lore by Moons Status: Endangered Lore and background: The Sun-touched are essentially opposites of the feared cursed Shade-touched dragons. Their body is completely filled with sunlight, glowing through shiny scales, a Light they use fiercely in their endless fight against the deadly influence of the Shade. The species hails from the edges of the Hewn City, where the darkness is strong and omnipresent, and their scales mirror the cursed place with almost labyrinthine markings on their wings and bodies. They are fighters, many of them warriors, though mages are not uncommon either, united by the unwavering determination to battle the dangerous Shade wherever it rears its ugly head. While many stay in the Sunbeam Ruins and near the Hewn City, there are always some who leave to travel Sornieth and fight for other clans and flights, as the Shade does not discriminate in its corruption. Place of origin: Sunbeam Ruins. The species was first seen in the immediate vicinity of the Hewn City, and the majority of the population remains there to this day. No Sun-touched knows if there is a connection between the Hewn City and the Shade, but they are all drawn to the ruined landscape as if attracted by an invisible force, and even those who live in lairs far away tend to travel to the Hewn City at least a few times in their lives. Habits and life style: Sun-touched are born with the intense urge to fight darkness and danger to bring light and peace to other living beings around them. As they often start wandering to fulfil this purpose, some have made comparisons to a Guardian’s urge to find their charge, though a Sun-touched’s purpose is not as singular. They are known to be highly intelligent, making them excellent strategists on the battlefield as well as avid researchers and scholars. As they are born to fight the Shade and its corruption, they are especially gifted with uncovering anything hidden, be it secrets, locations, items or even living beings. Additionally, Sun-touched are very good at solving riddles and puzzles, and many find a personal enjoyment in such things, going so far that posing tricky riddles to friends and companions brings great amusement to many of them, though they are an incredibly valuable addition to any lair guard, and so such antics are easily forgiven by most. Combat: Sun-touched are excellent fighters. No one walks out of a fight with one of them unscathed… and very few ever walk out at all. Many are warriors, but there are skilled mages among their ranks too, and all of them are capable of very strong Light magic. Even from a young age they are very quick to learn new fighting skills, quickly making them experts at various techniques that would take others decades to master. Social: As formidable as Sun-touched are on the battlefield, in social situations they are often known to be somewhat helpless. Even though they welcome and enjoy company, they are naturally a solitary species, often dedicating their entire lives to their fight against the Shade, which leaves them with little experience with many things other dragons consider normal, especially when they are still fairly young. As they get older, many adjust and learn, but most of them always remain a little shy, a little awkward and a little helpless, even when they reach old age. They do not know how to lie, as lying goes against their doctrine of never keeping things hidden to harm others. Many who were awestruck by the sight of a Sun-touched in fierce battle are later surprised to find a gentle, introverted soul behind the armor and scars, as eventually a Sun-touched’s sole purpose lies in protecting everything that lives from the Shade. |

Primary Bar, Vipera, Cherub, Giraffe, Jupiter, Falcon Goldenrod, Honey, Lemon, Yellow, Grapefruit, Banana, Sanddollar, Flaxen, Ivory, Buttercup, Gold, Marigold, Peach Secondary Daub, Hypnotic, Hex, Saturn, Peregrine Goldenrod, Honey, Lemon, Yellow, Grapefruit, Banana, Sanddollar, Flaxen, Ivory, Buttercup, Gold, Marigold, Peach Tertiary Underbelly, Glimmer, Stained, Contour, Scales Maize, Cream, Antique, White, Moon Acceptable Breeds Any (most often Imperials, their solitary nature provides them with the perfect focus for the task given to them at birth, though other breeds are becoming more common lately) Additional Notes Sun-touched are always XXY! They always have LIGHT eyes. Light-touched: If a dragon meets “5 out of 6” criteria (eg. an Ivory Jupiter/Ivory Saturn dragon with a Maize Okapi tertiary, as Okapi is not a Sun-touched tertiary, but Maize is a qualifying tertiary color), they qualify as Light-touched. These dragons often become apprentices and partners of their Sun-touched cousins, or serve in their chosen home lairs as valuable advisors in the fight against the Shade. |
