Biography

ALETHIOS - Historian

Silver Pocketwatch Silver Springbok Illegible Correspondence

Wherever the Moon Siren Coven has been, so too has Alethios. He's a permanent fixture in the coven at this point, an early devotee to the Moon Siren, and a fervent chronicler. Some of the coven's more senior members refer to him as "the fastest pen in the wood," and he would be lying if he said the name didn't give him a little thrill of pride. He may not be a legendary hero, teetering on the cusp of godhood, but he is exceptional at his job. That in itself is worth holding his chin high over.

And being a historian is no easy task. Where there is a record, there is always two or three or ten more, many conflicting. Or there are none, and Alethios is forced to grapple with gaps in the information provided. The sheer volume of content he processes on a daily basis would be enough to bury a Fae thrice over, and the amount of research he finds himself embroiled in would bury that same Fae another thrice. Truly, keeping an accurate, comprehensive history of a secretive, selective cult is no easy task.

Still, he loves the research, loves the scent of old parchment unfurling as he dives deeper and deeper into the past. True, it can be a frustrating endeavor, especially when someone misplaces his favored materials in the library, but the relentless joys outweigh those few bitter moments.

Besides, he's the only one capable of performing in such a role. Who else has the ability to scour fading texts one minute, and to settle a trade dispute with an allied clan the next? All his research puts him in the unique position of understanding historical wrongs well enough to prevent their return. Where one trade deal was botched, he can deftly apply a patch, saving clan relations without jeopardizing anything more than a little bit of someone's pride.

Not only that, but Verona trusts him. Verona, who hides herself from her coven in an effort to become closer to the Moon Siren. Verona, who has something of a fickle reputation these days. He works tirelessly to root out the threats she has foreseen, and she rewards him with her utmost trust and patience, a rare thing indeed.

But diplomat as he is, he cannot spend all of his time with Verona, and around his work as both historian and diplomat, he makes an earnest effort to connect with the rest of the coven on a personal level. No problem is too big for him to consider, and no child's riddle too small. Advice flows freely should one only ask, and it has made him a steadfast ally to almost everyone.

Everyone but the dragons who have the gall to inform him when he is wrong. Their sass, no matter how much truth it contains, tends to sour him toward their presence. He supposes he ought to be the bigger dragon, but there is no room for pettiness in diplomacy, and so he must foster his more immature urges elsewhere, lest they interfere with his work.
