Biography

MysticNight The Ninja |
Having gotten tired of the first layer, you descend the stairs to the second layer of the lair and immediately stumble upon an empty stage. A door in the back is propped open, and you enter into a darkened room where a sleeping black skydancer lay in the center. Slowly, she stirs and lifts her head, her black hood falling back to reveal a painted face of black and blue. She pulls the hood back over her face, shakes her body free of exhaustion, and rises to her feet. "Are you the travelling dragon? It is a pleasure to meet you, my name is MysticNight. Sorry for the nap, I am usually out at night and sleep during the day." |
Origins
MysticNight was born to the leader of a clan who had great ambitions for the clan, which often left Myst without a mother. Her mother held good relations with the House of Witches, so Myst fell back on some of the more peaceful witches to raise her. At first, Myst thought she would like to train as a witch, as the magical rituals and enchantments performed by her caretakers were rather fascinating. She began studies with an elder witch who had little care for the political standings of the clan, studying mostly at night when witchcraft was not shunned so strongly. MysticNight soon found that, while interesting, spellcraft did not lend itself to her, rather remaining stubbornly difficult and forcing her to abandon the art. She left the clan entirely not long after and traveled alone while learning to live off the land and hunt for herself, eventually settling in a nomadic mercenary group. The leader of that tribe took Myst under her wing, teaching her tricks of the trade and helping her develop her own fighting style. MysticNight settled into her role as a ninja, often going out on missions on her own with minimal trouble. She left the group in the Shifting Expanse when ShadowedGhost nearly got himself killed. She discovered the ghostly Skydancer halfway through a patrol while he was being ambushed by a clan of Wildclaw warriors, whom Myst knew to be ruthless killers. In a feat of bravery, Myst took to the air and challenged the egotistical wildclaws to an aerial battle. With some difficulty, she won the battle and flew to the crumpled, bloody form of Shadow and carried him to the nearest clan: the Galestorm Flyers. With the assistance of Serasorth both Skydancers survived the deadly encounter and retired from their former clans. Myst decided to continue her work as a ninja, though her fondness of Shadow grew all the while. Slowly, the two grew closer and begun to build a life together, and welcomed Asteria into it when she arrived. The trio now live together in the darkness, Asteria and Myst protecting their foolish husband while he sings them to sleep. |
Personality
MysticNight is, in general, a secretive and quiet dragon. She often spends her days resting and her nights on missions, which works perfectly well for her (as she is a night owl of sorts). She rarely takes her hood or claws off, valuing them for sentimental reason, and seems to be uncomfortable during large social gatherings. Though she is not the most social of dragons, Myst holds a deepseated fear of being forgotten or forsaken, stemming from her shaky childhood. She tends to keep her opinions and ideas to herself unless explicitly asked, and even then will deny having anything to add to the conversation. Despite being a skydancer, Myst finds it very difficult to read dragon energies (likely due to her raising by witches) and therefore is largely uncomfortable when surrounded by many strangers. She relies on ShadowedGhost to interpret many of the more complicated emotions of dragons, which he does so with all the patience in the world. MysticNight shares her love between her two mates, Asteria and ShadowedGhost, but loves them each for their own reasons. For Shadow, she loves the goodness in his heart and the determination to leave his past behind, but not the memories. She values the kindness he brings to her and others lives, and the patience with which he treats her mistakes. When it comes to Asteria, she admires the disgraced princess' ability to get knocked down but keep moving. Asteria was thrown from her clan for reasons beyond her control, but refused to wallow in pity and fear and instead sought her own place in this world. Myst also appreciates the loyalty that Asteria holds for both Shadow and Myst, both as a mate and as a guardian. Though she is not sure, she theorizes that they are both Asteria's charge, a thought that lets Myst's fear of being ignored melt away.
