Io

From the moment of her birth, Io has been infected by the bug of curiosity. She has always had to know how things work, from the simplest of structures to the most intricate spells and incantations. Her studies were always important to her, but there was no underestimating or knocking the power of true field work. Being outside, getting her claws dirty, and being in the libraries of her clan poring over books and charts were both of greatest value to the sharp minded young dragoness. Regardless of how happy simple forays into the territory surrounding her clan were, Io was always consumed by a wanderlust that made her want to go even farther, to explore the lands of other clans, even if it might be dangerous.

Despite the warnings of her trusted sprite from the forests of the Arcanist, Io kept traveling farther and farther as she grew, learning more, discovering fathomless bounds of information to write in her many records, scrolls, and diaries. It was during one of these forays that Io ran into the prodigal son of a clan from a far off land. A dark hued male with wings like aqua labradorite quite literally collided with her whilst she was on one of her excursions. At first she thought he was an enemy, but very quickly learned that he too had left his clan to discover truths which he could not find there. But there was a sadness in his eyes that told her he missed his home. His only reason for leaving had been in the search of like-minded individuals that would take him in and help him further his studies.

Io was that like minded individual he sought. Her spirit for exploration and knack for magic and science alike drew the young Eridanus to her surely as a moth to a flame. They attached to each other quickly in a deep friendship that turned to romance. Io wished to see the clan her mate had come from and she beseeched him to take her there so she could meet the Matriarch whose practices he spoke of with great interest, as he had seen a connection between the workings of their world and the rituals of his clan. Together they returned to the frigid floes with fond farewells from Io's own clan and promises to give love to those that had gone to Eridanus's clan before.

Io is a goddess to Eridanus, and she knows how deeply he cares for her. Her feelings are returned for him equally, and they are often seen as the most dedicated couple in the clan. They are often looked up to for their discoveries they make together and a special area of their mountain home has been sectioned off for them. It is part observatory and part library and laboratory. They allow all the dragons with scholarly interests in the clan to use it, but they protect it with all they are, as the knowledge contained within is of their own discovery and property.
