Formido is Maiestas's loyal and brutal guard. He is like speaking to a stone; un-moving and unemotional, and speaks in a gravely, monotone voice. His methods are swift but no less horrific, and he is known to go immediately for the throat, be it with teeth or claw. After his Queen's banishment, despite the uprising in the kingdom and court which quickly drew dragons from her favor, Formido stayed true and loyal to her claim to the throne. He managed to help her escape the castle as the riots began, and has continued to protect her since. His vow to her rule is strong, and Maiestas, despite having great respect for him, has been known to use that to her advantage.

His appointment of head of guard, even during her rule, was controversial and has gotten no better since the uprising and her sequential banishment. His past as a king slayer and councilmen killer was well known by the court at the time, however as Maiestas had final say, he managed to be granted the position despite his place on death row. He always claimed some other source had been paying him to destroy the Bog Kingdom of the West, but without proof, he remains the sole figurehead of that operation. No is certain if his loyalty to Maiestas is due to her saving him, or his obvious infatuation with her.

It is no secret that he is fond of her, more so than a lowly guard of dirty blood should be. She herself knows this, and her flirting with him has been witnessed on multiple occasions. She has been known even to flirt him into her cave; to the disgust of the court, who were forced to keep their affair a secret.
