* Silas loves stories more than anything. Reading them, telling them, writing down the ones he hears spoken aloud. Loves to honor stories by recording their words in large print that's easy for tired old eyes to read and in flowery, ornate calligraphy that plays with the sounds the letters carry, in tough-bound books meant to be carried into harsh territory and under bright, smooth covers with delicate gold gilding.

* A clan without a library is a tragic thing in his opinion... which is difficult, because a great many clans don't have libraries. The extreme temperatures and dangerous territory that many dragons live in aren't exactly kind to parchment.

* He has traveled through several different clans, leaving collections of books and scrolls in his wake, his mate Mariposa at his side and watching his back. Wild Orchard will probably be a long term destination- despite being the sort of clan that values culture, history, and literature, the Labyrinth's atmosphere is not kind to paper, parchment, or binding. Too much humidity, too many bugs. Silas has taken it upon himself to use his Water magic to enchant and keep a humidity-free-zone where written records can safely stay and be read. Now he just needs to write and trade for enough books to stock it....

* Silas has a few social mannerisms that occasionally confuse people who don't know him well. Sometimes he'll ramble on excitedly, while at other times, usually when he's tired, he becomes nearly unable to talk at all. Toying with the bead and tassel he wears on the end of his tail helps soothe his nerves, as does running the beaded silk that hangs from his wings through his fingers. As long as nobody pressures him too much, and he's allowed the space to retreat into his library until he feels ready to face the world again, those times pass by without incident or hurt feelings.
