Founded frozen in a chunk of ice, the white king of this set is cold to the touch and as brittle as glass. The piece is coated in a fine sheen of snow that simply refused to melt, even after placed near the roaring fire. A few of the imperial's whiskers were broken off -- a result of Checkmate's quick and careless efforts to free him from the ice he was trapped in. Strategy was quite impressed by the workmanship of this piece nevertheless, proclaiming it to be almost lifelike in detail.

Truth to be told, Ardith always thought of himself as a just and impartial patron, if not a selfless one. He held a firm hand on his small clan, making sure to punish all crime accordingly, like, in his opinion, every ruler should. Some admired him for that, making him out to be a shining beacon of hope for the clan, while others resented him quietly for the often too honest and harsh ways of his. But he was a leader, and sacrifices must be made, sometimes.

He has his secrets. A certain dragoness. A few hatchlings. A mistake, a betrayal, and it's consequences. A secret that ultimately turned him into a lifeless figurine of wood and magic.

The options were simple: lose his power and his status, or lose his love. A better dragon than him would have chosen the more valiant choice and sacrificed the wrong thing, but he was a leader, and he did what was right.

He was a king.
