Tapestry left the Lightning lair where she hatched within minutes of cracking her shell. She was barely an hour old when her four brothers and sisters were teasing about her plain lead body - and they were all gorgeous. To top it off, she had been named - by her lovely Spiral mother - Tapestry: implying something beautiful! What was beautiful about basic wisteria? Her Fae sire was gorgeous with his facet wings and, she suspected, he wasn't that concerned about her leaving her home weyr. Certainly her shimmer wings gave her some color but lead was just that - lead.

Perhaps in another place she could find some guidance or maybe even find an Alchemist who would assist in exalting her to their deity. They wouldn't mind her boring colors as long as she served. She would go willingly and vowed to serve honorably. Shadow seemed an interesting place - dark and gloomy just like her color. Shadowbinder seemed somewhat frightening but she had grown up quickly and would remain strong.


Climbing to the highest point of the Shifting Expanse, Tapestry flew toward Shadow. Just as she reached the mainland, she paused for a minute on the edge of a river bank for a drink. There, his reflection in the water beneath her, was a dappled centaur who pointed at something. 		ChslY0N.png


When she lifted her head to see what he was showing her, she discovered a beautiful dragon watching her - a Skydancer like herself, but with striking colors and glittery gems.
22544681.png "Oh you are so beautiful!" Tapestry couldn't stop the words from escaping her lips.

"Thank you. I honor our Shadowbinder with my colors." The dragon responded.

"I too would like to honor Shadowbinder - do you know how I can join her service?"
The other dragon looked confused for a moment, then laughed as politely as she could. "Oh no - not so fast, My Dear. You are expected - Wyldyrn, our Matriarch, sent me to find you to join our weyr. Would you follow me please?"

She turned and flew away, looking back over her shoulder for a minute to be sure Tapestry was following. "I think you need to display some fireflies on your moonlight."

"Don't mind about Shady - she gets that way when she's brewing magick for genes. It's tricky and she doesn't want to make a mistake." Binder explained.

Tapestry settled in quickly and looked forward to when the genes would be ready, as Shadymum had explained that they were for her as she stirred the cauldron with a broadsword. Tapestry and Binder even made a quick trip back to the river where they found that Deceiver so Tapestry could begin to bond with him as her familiar. Binder suggested Arras as his name and they both approved, as that related to Tapestry so well. Everything happened so very fast! But how wonderful it all was.
Tapestry learned she is very special. She is a member of the sub-species Moonlit Night. She is so very happy here! Oddly, so is Arras, who claims he will refrain from robbing this clan. We will see.
