Biography

Personality wrote:
An outgoing and friendly Imperial, Laurynus is an elegant dancer who entertains others with his graceful movements. But despite his talent he can be a bit lazy, loving to lounge about in his den among his soft pillows and silks. He's a very sweet soul and loves to chat with clan members and often gives kind words to those who are feeling down.
Past wrote:
Born in the Sunbeam Ruins to a large family Laurynus was always trying to stand out among his siblings. They were all quite studious as Light dragons tended to be and while Laurynus enjoyed reading and learning he didn't want to be a scholar, archaeologist or medic like his kin. Instead he chose the path of a dancer, learning to weave himself into beautiful and flowing motions that captured the attention of anyone who watched. Though his family was always judgmental of his decision, thinking him to be shallow for choosing not to purse a path of knowledge. As he grew older and ventured around the Sunbeam Ruins he found himself drawn to the edge of Light territory and towards the Shadows. The dark forest and all of it's secrets having a strange pull on him as he wandered closer to the edge every day. After many weeks of thought he decided to leave his clan and venture into the Tangled Woods, not sure of what he would find there but he was certain it was where he was meant to be. The Shadow territory was unlike anything he had expected with figures always lurking just out of sight. He was eventually found by a large Guardian named Odin who welcomed him to join his clan and Lauyrnus eagerly accepted. The young Imperial soon found himself more at home in his new clan then anywhere else he had been, His new clan-mates all accepting him for his differences and for once he felt he actually belonged somewhere.

Expanded Lore by Kamirah wrote:
It is no secret that Laurynas possesses the beauty of the sweetheart roses that bloom in the temperate summers of Sornieth, but the wine-stained Imperial never found any satisfaction in his image. His family, his parents and twelve siblings, all looked alike. What was the point of vanity? He wanted, more than anything to make his parents happy, but he had no love for the scholar or medic that they wanted him to grow up to be. Laurynas wanted to stand out; scrolls and education were simply not his forte. Dancing, however, was his true love. He would spend hours by the ocean mimicking the push and pull of the waves. His family, however, thought him shallow for following this strange passion.

After a particularly stinging fight with his father over his hobby, Laurynas had enough. Heartbroken and confused, he left the Sunbeam Ruins for good and flew to the Tangled Wood to start again. The darkness, the fungi, and the lurking figures perplexed him, but those around him were equally perplexed by this newcomer. A beauty like him was a rare find in the Wispwillow grove, and it was lucky that the kind Guardian, Odin, found him before someone else did and asked Laurynas to join his clan, which the Imperial accepted gratefully. But it would take moons for Laurynas’ broken heart to heal. All the dancing in the world couldn’t fill the hole that he had dug when he left the Sunbeam Ruins and his family. He thought about his family day and night, hoping that maybe one day he would be able to apologize and amend the bonds he’d shattered, but that was not in the foreseeable future.

In his new clan, Laurynas wandered aimlessly, from a nest to nest, and day to day. The dance in his step had left, leaving a sorrowful shell of a once-proud dragon. That was, until one day, Laurynas found himself listening to dove-song in the gardens when he heard a melodic voice singing along with the gentle birds. Peering over the flowering hedges, his heart melted like cool ice in the palm of his hand. A Skydancer with a pelt that shamed the stains of blood and roses was tending to the masses of summer blooms. Suddenly, Laurynas remembered the light of his birthplace when he laid eyes on this gentle dragon. Building courage, but perhaps too much confidence, he approached the Skydancer, but the red dragon fled at the sight of him, too shy to make an appearance.

Laurynas was thrown back into his sorrow at the rejection, but that melodic voice singing with doves lifted his heart. He found himself twirling around the gardens, among the vast blooms of the sweetheart roses. He drew his inspiration for his dance from the oceans that surrounded the Sunbeam Ruins of his home and the moon that drew and took the tides and illuminated the garden he stood in now, leaping and twisting with instinct and sensuality, all the while, the song of that red dove sang in his head, until he felt a strange gaze watching. The Skydancer peeked at him from behind a curtain of climbing blooms. He bowed to the dragon, finishing his dance. “That was magnificent,” the dragon said softly, causing Laurynas to turn an even deeper shade of wine red. “May I have your name?” he asked the Skydancer softly. To which, the red dragon replied, “Eros.”

It was not until the last flowering of the roses that Laurynas formally met with Eros again. The Skydancer was incredibly shy and was not keen on visitors in his garden, for he did not trust that they wouldn’t pick the petals of his precious roses, which was what he caught Laurynas doing one day. The Imperial suddenly found himself nose to nose with an upset Eros, and even though Eros was tiny compared to the Imperial, Laurynas felt intimidated by that ice-cold stare. Eros realized that Laurynas meant no harm to his flowers, he had been wandering the gardens in search of Eros, and now he’d found him. Eros explained that he liked it when other dragons walked the gardens to admire the flowers, but none of them really understood the work and heart that he put into his flowers. Laurynas told the Skydancer he felt the same way when his family shamed him for dancing. They walked the gardens that evening, talking, laughing, and finding truths and feelings within themselves that only the other had been able to bring out.

Soon, as summer turned to fall, and the orange chrysanthemums bloomed when nothing else did, so it was between Eros and Laurynas. The two were inseparable, fond to only the company of each other and indifferent to anyone else. The garden was a perfect place to practice dancing for Laurynas and Eros loved the company that the Imperial gave him when he was tending his flowers. Laurynas once tried to teach his love to dance, but Eros would have none of it, which both of them found humorous. In the colder months of Sornieth, when the snow-covered Eros’ beloved gardens, the two dragons began a tradition that Laurynas had brought from his home. They decorated all of the evergreen bushes and trees with silks, candles, fruits, and marzipan cookies to brighten up the dead wood since Eros was usually depressed and saddened at this time of the year. The hatchlings of the clan would climb the trees to get the sweets and the older dragons would ooh and ahh at the beautiful sight in the snow. In the end, it was Eros’ love who filled the gap in Laurynas’ heart, and Laurynas who taught Eros to trust in love and Laurynas when he had nothing else.
