Biography
The dragons of the Hawaiian islands stayed surprisingly safe for many years. They learned to utilize the many gifts the islands gave to them. They could use the sky, and stay up for days, or the water, where they could glide for weeks.
The Earth itself provided protection as well, offering her services to some of the last dragon safe havens. She gave to them volcanoes, and underground tunnels. And when the humans finally came, to take away all that had been given to the Dragons, they came together in a great show of strength.
It would be one of the very last time all dragon time would come together for centuries. With all their Ancient Magic, they cloaked the last remaining island, the one humans had yet to touch. This magic would hide it from their greedy eyes.
They called this place, Aethelweard.
Over time, though, many dragon forgot this safe place. As more and more died, the island grew into a legend, and finally, a forgotten idea. The dragons who long ago had made it to the island never left. They become one with the island, and grew their families there, nearly forgetting the outside world.
Until Kalani came. She could trace her blood-line back to the Ancient. To one who had used the great Magic to make Aethelweard possible. She grew up in relaxation, swimming when she wanted, or flying, or playing in the lava. The dragons of the island had a unique ability to maximize all of Earth's gifts.
But Kalani was a free spirit, she always had been. The island didn't offer enough sky, or ocean for her. She needed absolute openness. So, for the first time in centuries, a dragon left the island.
Not to fight, or to help, simply to chase the wind.
....
It was not long before she ran into CloudDancer, another free-spirit who had left his home simply to fly. And so, they joined.
