Lotor was born to Zarkon and his Altean wife Honerva (who now calls herself Haggar) making him effectively Half Altean, Half Galra.

Lotor begun his military career at a very young age, which has given him proficiency with energy sidearms, handheld weapons, and hand to hand combat.
