spooky boy. overgrown from the soul.
sort of a stranger to the clan, known only through his hatchlings. other than the progenitors and snapdragon, no one really knows what he's doing here. not unwelcome, however, just mysterious. has a keen mind and sharp wits.

despite his aggressive, grouchy soul, he has shown favoritism towards this nature clan, and especially stargazer.

and despite his loner tendencies and hesitant nature to become close to others, he finds that he thinks of amaryllis as his own daughter. loves her very dearly.
after raising amaryllis with stargazer, he has grown rather soft towards hatchlings. still quite grumpy, but one of the biggest reasons he could not help but to keep and raise taurik from a rather lonely nature egg he stumbled across. possibly influenced his love of apparel, considering their shared love of plentiful layers.

and, later, upon discovering an egg while out with stargazer, he couldn't seem to convince himself of anything other than keeping it warm and bringing it home. thankfully, he didn't need to convince stargazer, as stargazer soon joined him in warming the egg. became incredibly patient with bab's rowdiness.

it wasn't only their eyes that pumpkin found adorable, but he would be lying if he were to say it wasn't a big factor in raising goop baby. he didn't mind how clingy they were, for a lack of a better word, nor was the goop a problem. he may have some permanent stains in some of his apparel, but he wouldn't trade them for the world. he's surprised by how like snapdragon goop baby is, sharing his kindness and helpful nature. he's also surprised by how large his family has become.

on one of his many trips with snapdragon to meet with the progenitors, he noticed and became enamored with astrophel. astro became just as attached to him, climbing all over him and hiding within the many layers of his apparel to snooze. upon noticing this, xae & vapor were more than happy to allow him to bring astro into his pumpkin patch family as if he were pumpkin's own son.

wholeheartedly supported amaryllis' decision of a mate, and was right by her side when her first clutch hatched, bringing delphinium and castor into the world. was entirely unsurprised when she later took in goth potato as her own.

he'd noticed snapdragon far before he was noticed. not-so-shameful lurking by his standards had been sufficient in keeping him informed. there was none of that apprehension, none of the fear that he expected to be greeted with. it intrigues him. was it possible that the progenitors had informed this dragon of his presence? no, that couldn't be, there was no recognition, no confirmation, a simple greeting, "I don't believe we've met," and pumpkin is left to wonder as he is approached. the moonlight itself seems to drift off of this dragon, and he pulls up his guard before it vanishes.

"We have not."

pumpkin isn't supposed to know his name, the conversation hardly began before it lulled into comfortable silence, but he does. the many dragons that have been guided to the deity's lands had spoken it along with their thanks. he'll never admit it. snapdragon does not know him, but here he is. under the stars with this unfamiliar rogue settled somewhere on the very edge of the clan border. blood soaked bandages covering a good percentage of his face and all.

the kindness he is shown frustrates him slightly, for reasons he can hardly understand. the dragon beside him has no concept of wariness. no concept of the threat that pumpkin can pose towards him. it really wasn't any of pumpkin's business, and yet...with his head turned up towards the sky, hardly even his peripheral view allowed him to watch this possibly dangerous company of his, he has to wonder. how hasn't this dragon's naivety gotten him killed? there's an urge burning in his claws to attack him, to show him how foolish leaving himself open was. no, that wouldn't do. not at all. that is disrespectful. that would take advantage of the good will he has been shown unlike any other time. not even with those that lead the clan. he would need to attempt to teach him in a less violent manner.

sure, he had made a pact with the progenitors that allowed him to settle within the borders but it wasn't like he owed anything to this dragon here. the situtation floors him, all of a sudden, and he keeps quiet long after that stargazing, naive dragon has excused himself.
