He remembers little of the ritual; only his father's repeated apologies and increasing hysteria with it as the runes were carved onto his skin, holding the curse inside him in stasis. No walking gods from this clutch, just ordinary children flipping a coin on their fates. Delshad lost that toss. Whilst the Shade in him is tempered and held firm, unable to get worse, it is also unable to be cured without permanently altering him. Fortunately or unfortunately, he has no qualms about using it. For a man who shakes like a leaf, just like his father, he has far less trouble using his powers and magic; forever testing what he can and cannot do with the powers of dark, of void, draining life from the surrounding land just to see what happens. However, there is no malice in his experiments. His tongue is silver, his words refined, his shaky smile as genuine as can be. He's afraid, yes, but fear will not rule him- and it certainly can't change who he is. The dark has to be tamed and explored so it doesn't rule him, and he smiles and tips his hat as he pulls the void through him and forces it to obey.
