Biography
Obsia was found in a log mid winter, abandoned by her family, and unconscious from lack of nourishment. Galaxy, the one who found her, brought her back to the clan to request permission from Ayla to let her stay in the clan. Ayla was reluctant at first, and denied Galaxy's request, for not only was there no one to care for her (other than Galaxy himself, but he was far too busy with his own duties), but a shortage of food was plaguing the camp, and another mouth to feed was the last thing they needed. With deep sorrow, and only after hours of debate, Galaxy trudged across the grounds with the doomed child. From across the clearing, Kanika saw her crestfallen father, pulling a blanket behind him with something weighting it down. As she drew near, she saw Obsia being dragged in the blanket. Galaxy looked at her solemnly, and explained the fragile dragon's sad fate. Kanika, who was disgusted by the thought of killing a hatchling tore the blanket from her father's shoulder, and ordered him to wait where he was. She charged to Ayla's hut, and confronted her. Kanika challenged the clan's inability to care for the abandoned baby, and the notion that none would nurse her back to health. Ayla scoffed and asked who she thought would be willing to help. After a moment of hesitation, Kanika came to a decision. She would raise the child as her own. She would sacrifice a portion of her food to care for Obsia, and would take full responsibility. After many minutes of silence, Ayla nodded slowly, her face like stone, showing little emotion. Kanika was the opposite. An expression of glee spread across her face as she ran out of the den, shouting a series of thank yous and reassurances behind her. Galaxy was right where she left him. He was curled around the baby to provide warmth, and was obscuring her from view. Before Kanika reached him, she noticed he already had a warm smile on his face. Her expression changed from confusion to joy, as he recoiled his body to reveal Obsia. She was no longer unconcious. She rolled over, and stretched out her limbs as if waking up from a mere nap. As Obsia looked up at the two happy faces looking down at her, she smiled.
Afternote
The famen passed with the harsh weather, and Obsia quickly grew to see Kanika as her true mother. Over time, Obsia regained her strength. Once she came of age, she began to train to be a warrior, just like her mother had been, and how her granddad Galaxy still was. To her, Obsia was not training to merely become a warrior. She was training to protect her newfound family, and to thank the clan for giving her the greatest gift. A happy life.
