Mykia

When Mykia was younger, she and her family lived in a great library built into the cliffside of the Sunbeam Ruins. Mykia loved her library, loved the view from the terrace entrance, loved how the sea breeze ruffled her mane. She was ecstatic when her parents taught her to fly.
Her excitement was short-lived. The winds off the sea that once caressed her face were cruel. They grabbed her, and Mykia, inexperienced, couldn't get her wings under her in time. She was flung onto the rocks below. The doctor said her back broke on impact, but she couldn't feel the pain for the terror.
Her parents, devastated, pooled all their money into helping their daughter. They hired an engineer who built an elaborate frame for her. The frame would move her limbs when she told it to, though it would be slower than her legs were pre-injury. Due to this slowness, the engineer told her, Mykia would never fly again.
Now grounded, she devoted herself to her studies. She fell in love with the little creatures of the world, things she would have never noticed if she weren't forced to walk. When a clan of snappers traveled through the area, Mykia left her home and joined them, inspired by their resilience. If they could travel the world without flight, then so could she.
She journeyed with them for a long while, collecting stories and experiences. When they came to the Starfall Isles, something in her gut told her to stay. She left her temporary family and followed that unknown pull.
The pull led her to Stormhaven, Pengana's little library specifically. Though she wasn't a guardian, Mykia felt as though she had found her charge: she had to fill these shelves. Pengana and Calla have welcomed her into their home in the vault; when Mykia leaves on slow journeys to find new books, they welcome her back with open arms. Pengana enjoys Mykia's quiet company and takes advantage of her height when Calla isn't home.
Now that she lives in an inclosed cave, the smoke that rises from her frame is a bit of an issue. Tripwire has modified it slightly so that the smoke isn't as thick and smells nice instead of, well, smoky. Now, instead of making the library unbearable, Mykia just adds a nice atmosphere to the place.
Sometimes, her frame makes her head hurt or her body aches terribly. When this happens, Tetriol sits with her and reads out loud until Mykia feels better. Mykia thinks it incredibly sweet.
