Cyrus, born to a light clan who excelled at poetry and the arts, yet he didn't have a care in the world for it. During their lute practices, he was always of reading somewhere where his parents wouldn't find him. While his hatchmates were off learning how to dance and sing, he kept a more grounded approach as he learned about the history of the Light flight and the others out there. He decided when old enough he'd travel to the Arcane flight and study alchemy, much to his parents dismay.

In attempts to dissuade him, they would force him to partake in their own activities, trying to get him to learn the ways of arts. All Cyrus learned out of this, is that he was very good with a flute, but his want to learn Alchemy won him over. Soon would leave, and leave he did. There was no goodbyes, or good luck.

When he arrived at the Arcane flight, he was amazed at how many dragons were willing to take him in to teach him in the ways of Alchemy. Finally he settled on a mentor, Veron.
The skydancer was a jovial fellow and got along grate with Cyrus when he arrived. Veron taught Cyrus everything he knew about alchemy, what mixtures produced what end. To Cyrus it was amazing. However, it would not last. Cyrus was trying out a new mixture, one he believed would allow any clan who used it to change rocks and other trinkets into crystal, pure earthly crystal.
Veron hadn't known about it, and when he saw his apprentice mixing the mixture, he ran over to stop him, however, he lost his footing, sending the two rolling, and the mixture shattered, spraying the two. Cyrus could feel his scales begin to crystallize. When the reaction stopped, he stood, amazed that he still had control over his crystallized limbs. His mentor however, had not been so lucky, as when Cyrus found him, the poor skydancer had completely turned to crystal. There wasn't an ounce of life left in his opal eyes.

Seeing what he had done to the dragon that had taken him in, and treated him with more respect than his own family, he ran. He ran and he didn't care where he ended up. Guilt and remorse hit him like a train, blurring his consciousness and the adrenaline in him. After what felt like days, he arrived at the place he knew, his parents flight. When he arrived, one of his siblings recognized him immediately, prompting everyone to crowd around him. His parents were ashamed of their son already, and were not present when he arrived. Everyone asked where he had been, and what had happened to cause the crystallization of his appendages. He told them what happened, most were remorseful, while others scolded him, telling him this is what happens when you dabble in alchemy.

However, his siblings were supportive, despite that they never got to see their brother all that much, they were still kind to him. They told him that it was an accident, and he couldn't have helped it. Things happen. After a while of self healing, and getting used to his new shiny scales. He was ready to go back into the world. He was devoted to finding a cure for his mentor, he needed to help him.

Soon, He found himself among another Light flight, where he would call home. Surprisingly, he found a mate that suffered from a similar ailment as his own, yet for a completely different reason. He had learned that this crystallization, or Opal as some would call it, could be replicated even without alchemy. In the end, he finally found a place to call home, and a place to hopefully find a cure for his mentor.
