The clan excavates and mines in a nearby quarry and knowledge of gem and metalworking as well as magic has made this clan unique. Over time most dragons develop an affinity for certain minerals and some of their scales will mineralize or crystallize, and some dragons choose to undergo rituals to do this and increase their affinity as well as for aesthetic purposes.

Kianto started out a rich shimmering obsidian. She was always a bit of an oddball trying to tap into powers usually unavailable to the Plague domain but liked nonetheless for her free-spirited attitude. While exploring she encountered Maquic living on the edge of plague territory who was researching his own runes and powers and they became fast friends Maquic, a soft spoken and cautious individual, was pleasantly surprised at Kianto’s friendly demeanor and inquisitiveness about his research.

Kianto frequently visited and stayed with her newfound friend discussing ideas and differences between the elements as Maquic was born in the Wind domain. Eventually they encountered an expedition who immediately saw a common thread and explained to both Maquic and Kianto that there were like minded people in the next domain over, in the Lightweaver’s territory. The expedition members became friends with the two lone dragons but didn’t convince them to pack up immediately. However, a few weeks later Kianto and Maquic showed up at Nikkal’s door.

Kianto took and interest in gems and potionry while Maquic continued studying runes and inscriptions.
