Biography

Arcane Runestone
In the heart of every runestone lies a gem. Each gem holds a small piece of the power of the deity it represents. This little bit of magic is capable of granting small favors to the clan if they can get at the gem. The only way to open the runestone is to allow it to absorb elemental magic in a dragon nest. If the egg absorbs too much energy, however, the gem will turn into an egg, and produce a dragon identical to its patron deity. However, this process leaves the other eggs at risk, and often causes them to come out of the egg with little elemental energy, leaving them virtually defenseless in the case of a battle. This is taboo in most clans and often permanently stains the parents’ reputations, and these babies are often outcasts in their clans. This prompts many to leave their birth clan in search of a clan who will accept them. However, some parents still secretly place a runestone in with a smaller clutch in the hopes of bringing the favor of their deity upon them…

Rhodolite was born of such a runestone, of the rhodolite that lay at its core. He retains many of the traits of her deity, the Arcanist. Despite his small size, Rhodolite is an eccentric ball of energy. He spends his days observing the heavens or experimenting with different kinds of energies and magics; he is constantly in trouble due to the trouble his experiments cause. The other dragons of the lair have learned to distance themselves as much as possible when he hits a “creative” phase and prepare themselves for a whole lot of clean up. Huarahi tries to contain him to his own area of the lair, but no matter how hard she tries, his messes always seem to end up everywhere. When he’s not creating physical disaster, he writes fanfiction about other dragons in the lair, and just about any other dragon that comes to visit. However, his favorite subjects are the mighty deities themselves. He’s had to smooth talk his way out of a couple tight spots with some of the other deities who do not have much patience for his antics when his writings take a more romantic turn. In addition to those writings, he keeps records of every magical discovery he (or any other dragon) makes in his nest. Socially awkward as he is, he is a very important part of the clan.
