PERSONALITY

If you're a visitor to the Grove, or just if you haven't been there long, it's likely you've never even seen the mirror who Mojave affectionately calls his best friend, as you inevitably will hear when you're in his and his sister's bar. Not that he blends in all that well with red-sand -- but he's tiny, and fast, and skittish as anything.

Atacama doesn't much like interaction, as is immediately obvious. The best you can really expect from him is a few stuttered words before he takes off, his familiar in inevitable hot pursuit. He might be a stunning example of familiar-dragon friendship, but best of luck actually noticing it. He barely ever comes out of his bakery in the first place; the most you'll see is the ghost manticore ferrying various breads and pies and ingredients and the like between his shop, the bar and restaurant, and the docks.

He's quiet, and timid, and very twitchy, much like a frightened dog being cornered; and like one, he's liable to strike out. It's very hard to make friends with him -- unless you're the correct combination of persistent and careful. Really he far prefers quiet and the ability to just bake without being bothered, and even if you do manage to get close to him he's really not talkative at all but more than willing to listen to you chatter away, as might be expected.

He doesn't trust easily at all, stutters when he talks, and generally looks at all times as though he's expecting something to jump out from the shadows and grab him. He's fiercely loyal to those he befriends, though, and you shouldn't threaten anyone close to him -- he's gotten good at fighting for his life, and by extension, other peoples'.
