Since a very young age, Far-Story put his mighty memory to use memorizing tales: legends of the exploits of heroes past, morality parables, fictionalized yarns - every last one, none escaped his interest. He began to understand the mechanics of a tale, the interlocking pieces: plot devices, characterization, tropes. In time he began weaving his own, bartering these new stories for his supper or his place by the fire as he wandered from clan to clan. While he enjoys the challenge of spinning a new story, the old tales, the histories worth keeping, are his favorites, though he acknowledges that he is no lorekeeper - a tale that makes for better telling is far more important to Far-Story than a tale that is true. Though his love of tales drove him to travel as soon as he could fly, Far-Story did not feel the pull of his Journey until very late in life. He circled the world in search of something or someone who might captivate his heart, yet could find nothing. One stormy night, as Far-Story had just begun to give up his search and pass away, Anisotropic fell from the sky and landed at the bottom of the canyons of Reedcleft. Far-Story, being kind of heart and wise in the haling arts, felt compelled to save her and tend to her wounds. In doing so, Far-Story discovered two things: Anisotripc was his long-sought charge, and the place where she had landed was the territory of a secret clan called The Decent. The beautiful and elegant dragons of The Decent welcomed Far-Story and Anisotropic into their homes, and the pair found a gentle and loving family there, and have not since left. Charismatic and electric in performance, charming in conversation, Far-Story has never lacked for company. Most if not all of Decent regards him as a boon companion, though he especially thrives on the creative atmosphere engendered when he meets with his mysterious charge. The two of them have written collaborative epics for the crowd's enjoyment met with riotous applause. |
