The great pioneer; Avarus was the one to find this small void in a crack in reality between two parallel universes. Upon discovery, he snaked through the crack and created a lair for himself, carelessly shoving large amounts of wealth through the entrance. The crack grew over time, both from being pried open and the simple weight of the hoard where there was once sheer emptiness.
With the crack becoming larger and more unstable by the century, others have managed to find their way inside. The instability attracts creatures who thrive among the liminal and bizarre.
if you have the ability to, stop and listen. You may be able to hear the rhythmic beating of the Heart; for this crack is not truly a crack at all, but a broken vein. The Heart keeps the two universes connected and alive, fleshed together like two lungs in a ribcage.
