Leorio is a feisty, short-tempered dragon, with aspirations to be a doctor, who does his work for free. I mean, as a hunter he gets endless amounts of money, so he can live well, extremely well. He can be clueless in many cases, and not the most tactical, being very straightforward, but he also has excellent ways in making money, and saving money. Basically he seems to thrive on money.

But he has a sad past behind this. His friend had a curable disease. There was treatment, but it was expensive. Nothing Leorio did would work. He never forgave himself, but he promised to make up to him, by becoming a doctor, and curing other dragons with this. But when he found out how expensive the training and studies were, he lost it. He was furious. He couldn’t stand the idea of how much people's lives cost, and he knew he had to do something. So he became a hunter, seeing how much money and how many services they got. And now he's training hard, and has become one of the most important people of the hunters world, despite him still being considered a rookie.

Yet despite this, he still hasn’t forgotten his three best friends he made during the exam: Gon, Killua and Kurapika, stopping his training just to visit Gon, when he was ill.

And most importantly... HE'S A TEENAGER! ISN'T IT OBVIOUS! AH!
