 B I O G R A P H Y
His dreams are filled with vast expanses of cracking, shifting sea ice, wind-wracked snowfields and barren tundra. The towering behemoths of the Cloudscrape Crags rise in the distance, eternally encircled in a blizzard of hail and snow. Each morning he wakes with the taste of ice on his lips and the tingling of a phantom winter coat on his shoulders. He longs to see it all for real, the desire gripping his heart with an almost physical pain. But Porgi dares not leave the safety of the trees. Every moment his mother still breathes is one that he must live in exile. A month before his birth she stole a sacred treasure -a pendant said to hold immense power- and fled the realm of the Icewarden. To return without it would mean certain death, and she has no intention of allowing it to fall back into the hands of the undeserving. Even so, Porgi holds the hope in his heart that he will one day return to the Southern Icefield, and in the mean time he has his mother’s stories to distract him. Each night before he sleeps, she tells him the legends of his abandoned clan: tales of tundra dragons large as mountains, slumbering under the surface of the ocean. Rumours of terrifying creatures bound in ice, the threat of their release greater with each inch the icefield shrinks. And the myth of Entel, the legendary hero with shimmering fur and crippled wings, who walks the dreams of the lost and whispers their hearts desires in their ears. These are the ones he treasures the most, imagining that Entel is the reason he dreams so often of ice and snow. He believes, with that certainty only a child can manage, that Entel is more than just a story. Porgi has faith deep in his heart that he will see his home one day, and for now that is enough.
