- Hatchling Biography -
Lazar was stolen away from his family as an egg by a group collecting dragons for experiments.

The group believed that the Shade was the only true deity and that the others were merely lesser beings who had banished the Shade out of jealousy.

Calling themselves The Council of Ascendants, the society used a combination of magic and science to morph dragon hatchlings into creatures they called "reapers". While the reapers were made with the belief that the Shade would inevitably return and require an army, until that time, the society used the reapers to further their own agendas.

Lazar was one of their most successful experiments, who was originally just called Experiment #136. At first, it seemed the hatchling’s only abilities were that of enhanced speed and strength, but he was much more stable than the others from his batch, though he still had the strange blood lust that all the experiments had.

- Adolescent Biography -
When reapers were old enough to be trained, they were given names and put into one of four fields based on their abilities: intelligence, defense, offense or sabotage.

Once Experiment #136 was tested, the council deemed him Lazar Onyxveil and decided to put him into the field of intelligence, where he collected key information for his creators and interrogated those who opposed them.

He was a strong and frightening interrogator, who was not afraid to torture his victims if it meant the needed information could be extracted. Though he didn’t enjoy it, despite the rumors. But the council needed the information and he was happy to help when he could. They loved him, after all, all of them. The council members were like their parental figures.

It wasn’t really a good life, but it was all he had, and he wasn’t about to question it.

As time passed and Lazar became sharper and stronger, his true power surfaced and along with it, his blood lust grew and strange eye-like markings on his body began to appear.

Unsure of what the markings meant, Lazar went to his superiors. They ran multiple tests and experiments before finding out that Lazar could see into the spirit world and interact with it’s denizens. Later on, it was also discovered that, if he so wished and with the spirits' help, Lazar could teleport from one place to another by temporarily crossing over and reappearing in a different location.

With his newfound abilities, Lazar was moved to sabotage and began work with a squad of dragons as their leader. At first, he wasn't happy about the change, he liked being in intelligence, but eventually he grew to enjoy the work he did and even learned to trust and care for his teammates.

- Adult Biography -
Everything went horribly wrong, however, when the society was blindsided by a clan of liberators who had been watching them and waiting for the right moment to strike. Hailing from light and wishing to right the wrongs that the council had committed, their main goal was to take down the whole operation and hold the members on trial for their crimes. Yet they didn't know what to do with the reapers, except tell them the truth. While the reapers were confused, they were also curious. The society had never told them anything about themselves except what they could do for their creators and, eventually, the Shade.

When the society's members were captured and everything was explained, some of the reapers were indifferent, having been brainwashed into buying into the society and their beliefs. However, there were those, such as Lazar and his squad, who were furious at being stolen, lied to and used by madmen to further their own agenda.

When the members attempted to escape, Lazar’s bloodlust overtook him. Blinded by his fury, he immediately lunged, killing them all before they could flee. When his teammates attempted to calm him down, he attacked, his lust for blood and rage clouding his judgement and reducing him to his base instincts.

He does not remember killing his teammates, only waking up to their broken bodies, his markings glowing and ominous with no members of that strange clan in sight. Seeing the devastation and bloodshed he caused, he did the only thing he could think to do.

He ran.

Fleeing into the darkest part of the Tangled Woods, Lazar put as much distance between himself and the sight of the massacre as he possibly could. Spent and in shock over the events, he eventually stopped and broke down, crying himself to sleep that night. Over the next week, Lazar barely ate or drank and usually wound up laying underneath a tree in a daze. Before long, he was on the brink of death, his life force slipping away slowly surrounded by glowing mushrooms.

Before he could die, he recognized the feeling of being pulled into the spirit world, where a spirit, with no visible body, just a frightening mask and ragged cloak, began mumbling something he couldn't understand. It chanted something in a low, eerie voice before Lazar was slammed back in the woods, lying on his back, markings glowing brighter than ever with the spirit hovering over him. While scared and confused, he didn't think he was dying anymore.

Lazar attempted to question the spirit, who only gave vague answers before directing the conversation elsewhere. When it became clear the spirit did not plan on leaving his side, Lazar asked for it’s name.

“Roiyaru,” was it’s—his answer.

Being given a second chance, Lazar made more of an attempt to understand his new companion to gain better control of his powers. With Roiyaru’s help and training, Lazar grew to better understand his gift and his new friend, who he found to be a mischievous, fun loving troublemaker.

It was during one training session, a walking meditation, that he came across Raion who'd been on duty that night. When questioned, Lazar shot Roiyaru a glance, wary as to why Roiyaru hadn’t warned him of the other’s presence, before saying simply that he needed food and shelter for a couple nights. Raion nodded and while Lazar was worried that he'd been approved of too quickly, he was grateful. When brought to their leaders, he repeated his request, a little more genuinely, hoping he wouldn’t be killed on the spot. After a brief discussion, his request was granted and he stayed within the small, strange clan as they provided him with what he needed.

During his stay, Lazar got to know Raion and the other night guard, Carmine. Both seemed to enjoy the ominous wildclaw's company, for some strange reason, but he wasn't about to complain. He found that while both dragons were vigilant in their duties, they weren't the best at judging whether or not someone was unsavory. Which is when Roiyaru got the idea that Lazar would make a great addition to the clan night guard. When Lazar tried to argue with him, he simply countered saying that this was the happiest he’d seen him in months. But the past was still fresh in the wildclaw's mind and fear kept him from saying anything. Until Raion was attacked while out on patrol. Realizing how attached he'd become to the clan, especially the tundra, he requested an audience with Ausha, asking to become a member and what exactly he could bring to the table.

When approved and stated as an official member, Lazar joined the ranks as a night guard. With Roiyaru by his side to help him sniff out those with cruel intentions, he silently protects his new clan and hopes that the past doesn't come back to bite him in the tail.

- Additional Notes -
➤ Lazar’s markings are always visible, but they only glow when in use. Otherwise, they just look like strange tattoos.

➤ Lazar is capable of making physical contact with spirits, though it does come with a cost.
