ealcmhar was a scholar, once, but those days are far, far behind him.
- father was a well off mechent in the ruins
- mother is a seer from the wastes
- they had enough money to send ealcmhar to real doctor school in the ruins. yeah he's a real licensed doctor!! he should not be
- took a special interest in anatomy, and became and anatomist and a mortician, and actually did make some decent strides in helping physical deformities that lead to death
- of course, live specimens are always better, and very few dragons in the ruins want to tarnish their reputation by staying the in a collage ward for more than an hour at a time
