Unsightly

Unsightly is a blind Bogsneak with happiness to spare for the whole world - which is definately too much at times for the otherwise reserved clan. Though he works with whatever Elder is in need of assistance and can sometimes be convinced to join the caravan, he is a free spirit, and at a whim will travel Sornieth for pretty much anything - be it a religious experience from various Flights, a magical disturbance, or even a famous food stand that happens to be at the Pillar of the World - and sing praises about the Clan of the Garuda Vortex between his praises for... Everything else he has discovered. He has the magical ability to see through other dragons' and Beastclans' thoughts, and as a result, his reality is a nonsensical world of wonder and terror at the same time. Years "seeing" Emperors raze villages or massacres caused by the Shade never disturbed Unsightly one bit however, and he'd much rather focus on a random hatchling's dreams of flying through a beautiful landscape of rainbows and free meat, at least until he bumps into a wall harmlessly because of his tough scales. To Eternity's joy, the Bogsneak is quite the well of attention when he opens his mouth. Even through an economic crisis or among tough competition, crowds drop everything to gather around his storytelling times - and in the meantime, buy a souvenir or get a serving of Scramble's food. More than his gift of mind reading, Unsightly has the amazing ability to tell stories with over the top mannerisms and beautifully chosen words, and because of the accumulated imagination of thousands, they are a lyrical marvel. He is good friends with-- huh? "Give them a demonstration"? Yeah, sure, youngin', knock them out.

I see your interest in Unsightly's stories, or more specifically, his backstory. I will not ask if that's why you came, but if so, I can spare a few words about myself.

The glades of the Viridian Labirynth were home. Vine was a happy child, in a big happy clan, with benefits that would make some neighbors really happy - connections to the high society of the Starfall Isles. An alliance between warring Flights so rare, with a history that goes centuries past. But even the years haven't erased the large banquets, the cheerful events, and the various young dragons that visited either clan for studies.

Little Vine just wanted to stay at home, learn to make objects and houses out of what the jungle could offer, but he also wanted to make his parents happy. When he was chosen to oversee the friend clan's research of Starwood Strand plants, in the same location the great Arcanist kept His seemingly infinite accumulated knowledge, there was no turning it down.

The trip through the winds took him through wood in shadow, ruins of lands past, wasteland ravaged by disease and war, but he finally arrived at the world warped by the Arcanist's eldritch presence. Mountains covered in pink rocks, land no longer bound to the ground, and of course, the great relic of the Second Age, the Observatory.

No exaggeration in travel guides and encyclopedia - the runic stronghold of knowledge and magic is astounding and real. More astounding than its walls however, are the acolytes of the Arcanist who have long gotten used to the marvels that they live in; translating, enchanting, copying and researching under the unseen monumental deity, shrouded in many floors above them. Though there are many a lair built for centuries inside and outside the warped structure, it was a rather calm break day, and only the most devoted... And possibly crazy, of the researchers worked.

Avoiding the curious, hostile, and sometimes greedy stares, Vine did his best to share notes with his host about a rare pink variant of Umbra Parthenium. Not one for the intricacies of Nature, he just repeated his lessons while observing the new location, frustrating the researcher that was much more interested in knowing its applications for otherworldly magics.

While the unlucky pileup of blindness, stray Nature energies in an Arcane region, the ability to "see" the thoughts of others and... Other more pressing issues that came about on his first and only visit to the Observatory, Unsightly is an optimist and a dreamer at heart. Literally. Living through his own thoughts and others' warped his sense of reality, but rather than letting his situation get the best of him, this Bogsneak uses his gifts to inspire others to see the good things in life and the drive to change it.

Though his clan was accepting of him, before or after the Observatory altered his very self, he no longer felt like he could farily socialize with them because of his ability and new ideals, and set out to the Wind Flight to discover himself again. Though it might be a long time, he often visits his family, and always promises he will return for real someday.

He is good friends with Charm and Cloudtomb, who absolutely love his stories. Does not tolerate Zenith, whose selfish use of her Arcane abilities is one of the few things he cannot be happy about.
