Like so many in the clan, Chiaroscuro’s early years are shrouded in mystery. His reason for his secretiveness, he claims, is simply that he would rather not have his past “endeavors” linked back to him by would-be enemies. He has, after all, cursed a great many people in his life, including those with the means to seek retribution. The life of a curse witch is not often a quiet one.

He has revealed, however, that he himself was cursed in his youth and that he has been unable to uncover an effective counter curse. The nature of his curse is unknown at this time, but he has assured Dreamweaver it is slow to progress and non-transferable.

His principal role in the clan is that of a healer; he works closely with the clan’s cursed residents in seeking cures for their “little misfortunes”. On the side, he does a booming business among traveling magic-workers, who seek knowledge of his art, as well as young folk on perilous quests in need of his expertise. He sells everything from ancient tomes to homemade remedies, to anyone who's willing to pay his exorbitant prices.

At the moment, Chiaroscuro's primary patients are Rhea and Vicar, both of whom he is enamored with. Their curses are rare and tricky to cure, so the added challenge keeps him invested.
