Rhaegal has been defending his wood for many years. Even before Nature itself awoke as a god, he steadfastly remained in his wood, watching over all the plants and animals within. Most would consider this to be a lonely existence, but to Rhaegal, it was fine. Especially since any other leshie that would come by would attempt to oust him from his own wood.

Over time, he saw the war the Plaguebringer and Gladekeeper would have before the pillar was broken. He would also witness the first of the Beastclans and later, the first of Dragonkind, yet would remain in his wood, unconcerned with the outside world. His own concern was his home and making sure that anyone, Beastfolk or Dragonkind, knew to respect it, lest they incur his wrath.

He would tolerate passersby and understood that accidents happen. However, he would not tolerate deliberate destruction of his home for the sake of destruction. Trees being taken for the making of homes was fine-he had plenty and was willing to part with some. However destroying those trees because they felt like it would result in him punishing the offending party. The Beastfolk and dragons in the area found out quickly that they couldn't do as they pleased and came to fear and respect Rhaegal.

Over time, he started to consider hiding his true form and shifting into a dragon one. It seemed to be more threatening or at least encourage others to stay away, despite that he still kept his horns from his true form when he changed. Though he would still turn back to his true form in the event that he had to punish someone.

Rhaegal found a dog in his wood the one day. She seemed lost and scared. He was patient with her and kept her safe from any danger. While he had done this for many animals and even plants prior, this dog seemed to stir emotions that he hadn't felt before. He honestly felt lonely for the first time when away from her and felt strongly about protecting her whether he was there or not. She in turn started to refuse to leave his side and would snarl and growl at any Beastfolk or dragons that would pass by. He had to train her to not snarl at everyone other than him; sure he was quick to defend his wood and his dog, who he named Azalea, but he also didn't go looking for fights. She was pretty quick to pick up on what he was teaching her and became more subdued-unless she heard something very suspicious. Azalea would often be Rhaegal's eyes and ears when he was somewhere else in the wood and he would instantly come to her side if she barked.

They were content in his wood for a good time after that. Until the elements started going out of control. Rhaegal had seen the after effects of the pillar being destroyed, but this was something far different and far more concerning. Hearing through his wood, he learned that war may be reignited between those of Plague and those of Nature. He shuddered at the thought; it would be a far more devastating war should both sides come to blows. Before, it was the Gladekeeper and Plaguebringer that fought. While a fearsome battle, it was restricted to only them-no one else was involved and they were younger and weaker than they are at this point. But now there were dragons under each ready and willing to fight for their patron. More bloodshed would happen. Not only that, but there was also the presence of the other nine gods and their own dragon children. What if it spilled over into other territories? How would the other gods react? How would it affect him and Azalea? As strong and ancient as he was, he still was limited in power compared to the gods and the gods' children had not just power, but sheer numbers on their side. A few Clans could be dealt with. Anything more was suicidal.

He was left having to ponder sadly about what to do next. Remove himself from his home, which would weaken him and he'd have to start over by establishing his roots elsewhere or stay and be caught up in a war and most likely die? Had he only been by himself, he would have refused to leave. But he had Azalea now and he owed it to her to make sure she was safe and happy.

While he explained to Azalea what the plan was, he kept putting off the day they would finally leave. Until a Corgi came bouncing in and introduced himself to Azalea and she took a liking to him. Rhaegal was very confused until that Corgi's owner came in. He found that she was equally confused as to what was going on. She explained that her name was Izar, her dog's was that of Sir Barkley and that they were on a journey to figure out what's going on in the world as well as try and find a relatively safe place to live.

Finding this to be the sign he needed, Rhaegal agreed to have Azalea and him join the group as they pretty much had the same goal. While they were looking for info, they didn't expect to flee the Sunbeam Ruins due to an awakened Emperor. Sure they were a safe distance away, but knowing such a horror was around was enough to leave and not come back. Feeling safe once they passed into the border of the Sea of a Thousand Currents, strange information was gathered about a dragon living in lava pools and disappearing once sighted. Izar was intrigued and had a thought that it wasn't really a dragon. Since they weren't exactly on a schedule, Rhaegal figured it would be interesting to check out at least even though he didn't think it was real.

And boy was he wrong! Once they finally found this dragon after a frustrating couple of weeks, Izar was quick to trap that dragon so they could talk. It became obvious quickly that this dragon wasn't a dragon. He introduced himself as Iri the odd kelpie that was shunned by his people due to his love of lava pools instead of water. He also wanted to join the group. Rhaegal didn't care and neither did Izar. However, Azalea and Sir Barkley were very happy to have a new friend.

Wandering about, they figured that the Lightning territory may be the best place for them to live while they find out information. They came acrossed Clan Spiraling Tempest and Izar quickly offered her services to the Intel Subdivision. Rhaegal had to figure out what would have been best for him and finally decided on joining the Culinary Subdivision. There he could make any meals, but specialized in vegetarian and vegan foods. Azalea would help with delivery as she was quick and quiet about it. When off work, he hangs out with his friends that he made on their journey together. He passes along anything new about the world that he heard while at work and Izar does the same. Iri however enjoys talking about the hatchlings and teaching them and being taught by them and will often play with Sir Barkley and Azalea. Rhaegal has been able to recreate his old home in his new den with the aid of Lightning Flight's science and his own magic. He has many flowers the bloom in the day time in his den but loves and prizes highly the ones that bloom at night.

He has also taken some of the planimals under his care. They can be found creeping about and nurturing the forest den.
