Parents

So Hod's Mom is a true Windy and was born during last year's Mistral celebration :) Sadly though Dad is from Ice and is just a little youger than Mom.

Ahh but you know love has no bounds and when Mom(who needs a better name) was small and venturing out on her own as so many windys do. She was flying over the icefields when she saw Whispers ,who was stuck between 2 big blocks of ice! Oh my she knew she had to help. So she flew down to him and he was so scared. He was just a little older than a hatchling and he was crying so hard. She immediately felt her heart soar and break at the same time. He was so lovely and sensitive she thought. By the time she helped him get free they had become best friends! It took her hours of working at chipping the ice enough to free him, so she tried to keep him talking so he wouldn't cry and worry anymore. When she finally had him free he had made her promise to visit him often.

So she did and after several times of her visiting, he didn't want her to leave. She said she had to ,her place was in the wind but that he could come with her. She told him her clan was very friendly and would love to have him join them. He never even hesitated! He immediately told his parents and they wished him well on his adventure.

Together they returned to her clan and have been happy and carefree ever since. He has truly become a great Windy :)

A Trinket Home

There was a great stink in the air so Hod knew that today, there would be zombies. Any other dragon might have taken pause at that conclusion but for Hod, this was quickly becoming routine, not to mention insulting. Coldfire Company prided itself on being the cream of Maserift's crop, the best of the clan's best scouts and fighters. They were protectors, the forward ranks that engaged the clan's enemies before they became a real problem. Facing meatless, shambling skeletons that broke apart with a mere sneeze was a waste of their time. Meaty shambling skeletons, granted, would be a step up but just barely. He wrinkled his nose.

Dispassionately, Hod soon found himself staring down something that had probably once been a mirror. It was hard to tell with the maggot-eaten holes in the face. The thing made a sound that could be neatly filed under Standard Antagonistic Noises and sprang forward. Hod stepped to the side and just let it crash to the ground. Ahead of him, Seshat yawned and stretched her limbs luxuriously. In doing so, the imperial immediately destroyed five victims. Hod couldn't even call them enemies in earnest. This was just sad.

Theoretically, he knew it was an ideal situation. Their opponents were weak and Coldfire Company was strong and all too ready for a fight. Victory was inevitable. Yet, he couldn't help but miss the challenge. Even the cushiest of mages could take on these things with little to no effort and for somebody who regularly fought harpy clans in his free time, Hod couldn't help but feel cheated.

After the (short) fight, Hod rummaged through the obligatory hoards of abandoned treasure with his fellows. Most of it was junk but a bauble here and there caught his eye, sparkling in the light of the Company's magical lights. His mate worked nearby, attention momentarily caught by a shining longsword.

"So how did you find the fight?" Rhea teased the silence.

Hod snorted. "Fight? Where? Just point the way and I'll be there."

"I see that somebody wasn't very impressed by the enemy of the day," Rhea said in amusement.

"They were very," Hod paused, trying to find an appropriate adjective besides weak. "Smelly." It was exactly what he had said yesterday. And the day before.

"At least it can't be this boring forever," Rhea said. "Soon, we'll have a real fight again. Probably. Are you going to bring that home with you?"

Startled, Hod looked down. In his claws, he had been absently playing with two prismatic coins. In the light, they shone with all the colors of the rainbow. "Oh. Neat. I didn't notice. I think we already have a few of these already, though." But they were pretty. If he were romantic, he'd give them to Rhea and compose some sappy lines about how they matched her eyes. Luckily, Rhea hated that.

"You know that the clan sent word to some of our folks before, right?" Rhea said with a shrug. "I don't think you hate yours so maybe you should send them as a token, let them know you're alive and all that."

"I like my parents," Hod said uncomfortably, with a slight edge.

"See? Problem solved. Go and write them a letter. It'll be sweet." Rhea laughed like the sugar wouldn't immediately give her diabetes.

She did have a point, though. It'd been a while since he'd any contact with his parents and like he'd said, they weren't bad parents at all. They, however, did seem to be the sappy sort of couple that Hod and Rhea weren't. So he'd send the coins, sure. But Hod resolved not to write the letter. He was scared of what he would unleash if he did.

Fight zombies? Fine, good, great. Actually confront parents? Noooooooo.
